I know this is a discussion board for dogs but I just had to show you all! We went for an evening out last Wednesday and look what we came home to all snuggled up in our bed!

:oops: Just seen the other pix, congratulations, what lovely colours the kittens are. :thumbsup: They've got their eyes open really quickly. :)

The pictures were taken this morning and shes been a fantastic mother. Any ideas on names??

Thankyou. The ginger and white, black and white, and the little grey one are all boys and the one that looks like her mummy is a little girl. I'm stuck for names tho, can anyone help??
 
Awww :wub: what a wonderful litter of kittens. :wub: Lovely, ..... and thanks for showing us. :thumbsup: alovely assortment of colours there too.

Thankyou, I dont know much about kittens as this is our first litter but I've heard that kittens born in the same litter can have different dads? Does anyone know if this is true or not? If it is then Tinker has definitely put herself about lol as they are all different colours!
 
A Queen could be served by more than one tom, but Im almost certain that one litter will be from one Tom. (in a single mating) The fact that mum is a tortie and dad was probably multi-coloured can produce any assortment of colours too.

If you dont want any more litters it may be better to take her to the vet for an op, before she comes into season again, :thumbsup: or she will keep on producing litter after litter.

Torties are usually female and Ginger kittens usually toms in most cases too. My first cat when I got married was a 'Tinker' too :thumbsup: she was ginger and white.

When we take the kittens for their injections we're going to take Tinker for the op, as much as I'd love to have a house full of kittens all the time, its not really fair on Tinker. She's been a fantastic mother, but like humans, childbirth will obviously take its toll and I dont want to put her through that again. We've decided to keep one of the kittens for her but i dont think I could have 5 cats in the house!

Gizmo (our dog) has been fantastic with them by the way. Tinker and the kittens will curl up in their little bed and Gizmo will walk over like he's the proud father and lick them clean lol.

That is very sensible, and kinder to mum, but Im sure she will enjoy having that one litter too :wub: and will soon be back to full condition again very quickly. Its feeding them - not producing them that takes the toll. Very good luck with them all :luck: and btw Gismo is very clever o:)

Thankyou very much. I will post some more pics in a couple of weeks. The feeding does seem to be taking its toll. You can tell she loves them to bits and she's taken to being a mother fantastically but every so often she'll climb out of her bed and sleep next to it for an hour or so. Close enough to hear them if they want her, but far enough away to have a little break.

I think thats the one we're going to keep but I cant decide lol, I'd keep them all if I could but they'll be too much of a handful in a few weeks time when they're all up and running about. Chris (OH) keeps saying to me "I can see the way you're looking at them, but we cant keep them all!!"

ive never been a cat person, but having said that ....awwwwwwwwwww :wub: :wub: :wub: how cute are they :wub:
 
What alovely cat, and beautiful kittens :wub: . Not all gingers are male - we recently had a little ginger cat move in with us to have her kittens - she had six, four tortie girls and two boys, one ginger and one a sort of fawny /beige . We've kept two and were lucky to find good homes for the rest.

I'd post some pics, but haven't a clue how to do it.

The mum did eat loads while she was feeding them - she's not impressed now she's on normal rations while her milk is drying up.

Hi we're in Yorkshire. I think we have homes for them all but i will let you know. We're just waiting on a decision from my sister and her partner about the little ginger one but the other 3 have homes. I have a large family and wanted to keep them quite close to Tinker if I could, and my sisters fell in love.

Tinker is eating like a horse while she's feeding but she's being a fantastic mother. If she hears one of them miaow she runs straight over to them. She's become a lot more loving since she had her babies and never strays very far from the front window.

I'm getting quite used to having them here tho, it will be very strange when its time for them to leave.
 
What gorgeous kittens they are all so beautiful :huggles:
