Lexi's Snugglebed.

I agree with you both, thats why I posted yesterday but it seems the rules have changed since you posted TC?

Come on moderators please get these rules sorted so we all know where we stand :- " As I cannot see how this was different to others that have been told they are breaking rules....

Hi everyone, I am really new to posting on the forum ( i think this is only my 2nd post) I had only wanted to post some pictures to show off Lexi and at the same time say thanks for the bed...nothing else intended. I had no idea that this was wrong and would not have posted it if I had realised this.

Hi Kizzy, as I said I'm really sorry for hijacking your thread :b but don't worry, according to Nigel it seems it is now fine to post about anything you have bought (unless I have got that wrong :b )

It really is very simple - I just cannot understand what the problem is....

TC posted an item a while ago about a collar she had bought. At that time the post was not in line with the rules that were then in place. The post wasn't moderated in any way but a discussion started about the particular rule. I said we would review the rule and change it if possible.

On July 27 the rules were updated and an announcement added to the top of every forum stating that.

The new rule is:

Advertising of goods or services on K9 Community is permissible only in 'The Market Place' forum. You must not promote goods or services anywhere else on K9 Community in a deliberate attempt (or apparently deliberate attempt) to avoid a proper advertisement being placed in 'The Market Place'. Such posts will be removed or edited and the poster contacted advising them of the problem.

You can only moderate against the rules that are in place at the time of the post. 8)

Thanks for your reply Nigel.

I can tell you quite easily what the problem is to be honest, it seems that none of us knew what the new rules were...

I didn't know this rule was in place until it was posted on my Badger's New Collar thread...

Quintessence said:
Very nice collar, I am assuming that Dawn gave Badger this as a gift otherwise I would need to remind you of the following Forum Rules
Promotion of any goods or services where the poster or their close associates are the supplier of the goods or services is only acceptable in The Market Place™. As an example it is alright to post in General Whippet a link to a site selling a collar you have bought as long you or a close associate are not the ones supplying the collars. This post would not be acceptable if you knew the seller personally or stood to make any gain from further sales.

Jenny
Then this thread was started by yourself, and a lot of questions were left unanswered...

Market Place Rules thread

In this thread you said that you would be looking at 'associates', links to websites, and praising people for their goods etc, and that is why people still thought that it was NOT okay to post about anything they had received.

This being the last thing said on the thread, and I suppose I just expected the other questions to be answered on it as it seemed to be a work in progress type thing. So when nothing else was said on it I thought you still hadn't decided on how to word things etc...

Nigel said:
This line has been added under the general conditions - just to ensure that all posts in the Market Place are on topic
The first post of all new topics in The Market Place must be an advert and all replies to adverts must relate directly to that advert. All other communication should be directed to the person concerned via PM, email etc.

You answered Jo in this thread with a new rule, which you have now said has been announced but clearly lots of us did not know about that. Did that announcement not come up when I (and maybe others) selected View New Posts? I'm asking, as I am sure you can imagine I have been waiting for the outcome of this debate so would certainly have looked at a thread about new rules or an announcement and I didn't see one, and I don't think I'm on my own in that?

I do not want to have a post moderated or edited in the future, and I also, as previously stated in other threads, feel that I should be able to post about things I've bought so I want to get this straight once and for all.

I am sorry that I obviously can't understand something so simple, but I really want to put this one to bed, and from the tone of your reply it seems that you do too, so can you please just answer me one more thing? Is this statement true?

It is okay for anyone on K9 to post about anything they have purchased from other members saying how pleased they are with the goods they have bought whether or not they are from The Market Place?

Thank you

Yes, as long as it isn't a deliberate attempt to promote the goods to avoid placing an advertisement in the Market Place.

Each case will be taken on it's own merits. A lot of factors could come into play... for example has the item been advertised in the Market Place, does the seller personally know the poster, what's the frequency of this type of post, does the post mention the seller.

If it is thought the post may be a deliberate attempt to promote goods or services instead of using the Market Place then the post may be removed or edited and the poster advised of the reason.

With the deepest respect Nigel (and absolutely no offence intended to Kizzy) how does the oringinal post on this thread fall within that remit?

Hi everyone. Here are some more pictures of Lexi. She is now 11 weeks old.A huge thank you to Alfyn for Lexi's new bed. As you can see from the photos she loves it.
Who is to say that this was not an attempt to promote the goods?

This bed was NOT advertised in the Market Place, and Alfyn does NOT have a trade advert.

So as far as I can see, this is a member thanking a fellow member for something that they have bought from them. I have no idea how that transaction took place, it could have been via pm, it could have been because of a previous thread about snugglebeds (blimey, it could have been because of THIS thread about them that I started 8) ) It could have been that Alfyn met Kizzy at a show, or racing or something...

That is my whole point, and has been my whole point all the way through all of these discussions. It is how I have felt since I was publicly slated for putting a post on about something that another K9er had GIVEN me and I had not bought it via the Market Place. They did however, already have an advert in the Market Place for a pink collar, but that was not good enough it seems.

The whole thing has been a farce from start to finish in my opinion and that is my final word on this matter.

The rules were different then & your post was looked at against the rules that were in place then!! What do you want me to do, retrospectively go back through every old post to see if they meet current rules?

Well I'm sorry you feel that - you asked for the rules to be changed, they have been and still you're not happy. Sorry, I cannot do any more, but if it is your final word then so be it.

Well, it can't be my final word can it, if you ask me a question

No, I do NOT expect you to go back through all the posts, I just wanted to know where I stood. I am now very happy that it seems that I can post about anything I purchase from anywhere, as I will be saying nothing different from Kizzy in this post.

So thank you very much Nigel

You cannot 'post about anything I purchase from anywhere' and not expect the post to be scrutinised. You are a different person, you will be posting about a different item bought or given to you by a different person. If it is thought you are deliberately posting to promote an item instead of you or the seller posting in the Market Place then the post will be edited or deleted.

How on earth do the moderators know whether the poster knows the seller - I better watch out at shows and lure-coursing in case I am seen talking to someone I have purchased an item from as then I will know I won't be able to post on K9 about it.... oh for goodness sake!!! What a sad state of affairs :(

I know it’s ridiculous – I have not posted photos of Logan in his lovely new collar from Juley. I am really pleased with it and he looks gorgeous in it.

But I was told I couldn’t post about it. I wasn’t doing it to generate sales, just to show my gorgeous Logi off!

I know everyone knows I am friends with Juley, but like Jo says how do the moderators know who we are and aren’t friends with.

As long as it isn't thought you are delibrately posting to avoid an advert being placed in the Market Place then there won't be a problem. As Juley has placed many adverts in the Market Place then it's hard to see such a post being moderated.

What I said was each case would be taken on its own merits. Nowhere did I say if you knew the seller you couldn't post.

I can assure you Nigel I’m not trying to cause a problem – but I’m sure it was said that you couldn’t post about items you’d bought from a ‘close associate’

People are still obviously not completely sure what they can and can’t post (me being on of them).

I suppose I will just have to post things that I think are ok and if they get removed I know they were against the rules!!

I didn't for one moment think you were trying to cause a problem.
I think the rules are quite clear - remember they were update July 27.

If that's all anyone wants to do then that can be said without saying who the collar was bought off. That's an easy way to keep within the rules.

ditto, ditto, ditto!!!

Neither I am trying to cause a problem - but if a few of us are confused I am sure we are not the only ones!!!

But now I know the rules were changes on 27th July I'll make sure I comply

(sorry doesn't make as much sense now Nigel has edited his post)
