Well I thought that but usually match nights in my experience are once a month and how do you get 4 in with a 3 1/2month puppy?

There are lots of fun shows, which aren't held under KC rules. I took Rowan to one in the summer when she was five months for practice.

I have seen pictures on K9 in the past of puppies winning rosettes at "fun shows" so there seems to be events where you can take young puppies . It seems like a good idea to me, the more puppies socialise with other dogs, the better it is for them. After the lovely way Sparky behaved at the recent lure coursing day (I'm talking here, general behaviour, not coursing abilty) I'm thinking of taking him to some companion shows next year. I think he could have some fun, and I defy any judge not to award him The Most Handsome Dog :wub:

I'm kinda with you on this one Tracey HOWEVER I also think that there is nothing out there even "ring craft" classes that prepares a puppy for the sheer pandemonium & chaos that is a dog show like an actual dog show,"ring craft" does touch on it slightly but the size of venue & crowds of both dogs & people & also the noise levels does'nt come close to equaling a show, so I do like to get my babies to a breed club show where they have a baby puppy class,not necessarily to compete but just to "take it all in" as such.

 

Also regarding your comment on pups being allowed to be pups before they compete,I totally agree with that statement but to the extent that I don't think they should be made to take their MP classes that seriously at a KC regulated show either,I do wish some judges (note I said some NOT all) would remember this when judging these classes & also some exhibitors too,imo there is nothing worse that watching a puppy or puppies in the MP classes being forced to stand like statues for ages before the judge "picks",it's just not fair,these are babies after all and should be allowed to enjoy their day & their puppyhood,like you this is just my opinion & I apologise but judges taking forever in those classes is a bit of a bugbear of mine.

i totaly agree puppies should be puppies i until the age of 12 months my girls were very naughty but they were enjoying themselfs katie thought she was a kangaroo by jumping up my back on the move once they turned a year they started calming down

i dont do any training at home only at ringcraft or fun shows my pups are very naughty at home

dolly is a typical puppy she dont like standing just enjoys herself bridie trained herself the very first time i took her to ring craft she was perfect in all the years i have shown i have never had a puppy like bridie

bridie even suprised my mum she said she had never seen a puppy handle that well standing and on the move
