Jasper

Love that close up pic!
@excuseme when I can't get a pic off my computer, I take a photo of it from the computer screen with my phone, then reload it back on to my desktop, then attach it.. don't know if that helpso_O..and I'm still windows 7, there is no hope for me then if I have to upgrade to windows 10!:eek::eek::eek:

My computer man advised me to change over. My photo's are so important to me and I was able to put pictures onto the computer, resize them for sending and then just a couple of clicks and they were sent. I really have no Idea what to do now!
I would love to have windows 7 back, everything worked perfectly.
I hate change and I don't learn very quickly. I may as well dump my camera and delete all pictures on the computer! Temper tantrum comes to mind too.

I have been offered some help but I will have to get over my mood first!

Oh and I can't take a picture from the computer screen and load it onto the computer and then attach it.
1. because I doubt if my OAP Dorro phone can do that and, 2. I wouldn't know how to do it.

We have no snow to speak of here, but I've just hunted down some photos from 2013 and thought I'd share them - Jasper was just three.

And more:
You have to look twice to see which end is which in the first photo, and I'm still not sure where his head has gone

It's a rarity to get this much snow round here... I was a like a big kid looking at the forecast yesterday, and then a big disappointed kid when we didn't even get enough to dust a Victoria sponge.

Victoria sponge, that's just about as much as we have here, very disapointing.

Same here. Now I don't have to get to work in it, I really like snow (how selfish is that?). And we have hardly any.

Awesome photo, excuseme - just look at those beautiful lashes. And well done for persevering with how to post it!

lovely picture @excuseme .. did you know that ferrets have horizontal slit pupils too?
(random ferret fact of the year!!:D)

@JudyN Missed those pics of Jasper 1st time round, lovely!!

I've been feeling a bit down about Jasper's health - a couple of nights ago he must have tweaked a leg barking at monsters down the garden at bedtime as he couldn't get up the stairs after:( His legs seemed so weak - he struggled halfway up, then decided to give up and go back down again which was even more scary - I was sure he was going to fall. Later on, he went back upstairs with no problem.

But we went to the park this afternoon, and the lovely weather cheered me up. He had a lovely roll on the grass and though I only intended to take photos, my phone decided to take video clips. I've no idea why, it's never done that before but it's lovely to see him having fun!

Let me know if you can't see these, I might have to tweak the permissions.

J is just over 11 y.o., right?
I don't know for sure, but I suspect that at some point worrying and feeling down about their health just becomes a part of life.
He looks great though on those videos!

Yes, I'm sure you're right. It's like his legs are several years older than his brain, and I'm trying to balance the needs of both. Which is why we probably overdid it on a rarely visited bit of heath this morning!

He does look so happy as he rolls in the sun!

Weakening back legs are usual in lurchers, because they put so much stress on them in their early years. I'm having the same issues with my 12 year old lurch. We can only do our best, but it's difficult on the emotions, isn't it? It's a little consolation to know - as I often say - that it would be far far worse if they outlived us. At least this way we can truly commit to looking after them them all their lives. And giving them as many happy rolling in the sun moments as we can.

I wonder if dogs think 'I wish I could bound up the stairs,' 'I wish I could chase deer,' or 'I wish I could take that cocky retriever on and show him who REALLY has the balls'? (At times his body language reads 'I could've 'ad you in the past, you know':D) Or are they happy to scent the deer, excited to spot them, but content to have a short slow canter as they disappear into the distance?

Disclaimer: I don't make a habit of letting Jasper introduce himself to cocky males or chase deer, but in an area full of both, it does happens from time to time. He's only spotted deer once or twice over the past year, but deer are what he thinks he was made for.

I was in the garden this morning, indulging in my hobby of photographing bugs, and he kept bringing my slippers out to me in exchange for a treat. In the end I had to put them on a high shelf!

I think the larger lurchers suffer more too my 11 yr old girl is alot more stiff in the back legs ...but victor who is 7kgs lighter and is 14 is much more agile ...

Seeing a dog have a good old roll is something that always makes me smile:).
But yes, as @Hemlock said above, it is the toughest time watching our 4 legged friends grow old:(...but thank goodness we can be there to care when they need us most.

"My paw is cunningly disguised as an ear...."
That photo is priceless :)

Muuuuum, put down that camera and plaaaaaaayy......

My new(ish) hobby is photographing all the wildlife I see in the garden, from springtails a couple of mm long to birds. I've become a little obsessed, and can lose myself for hours on end stalking bugs round the garden. I feel quite guilty when I keep saying 'I'm busy, in a minute,' to him. But I'm up to 145 different species so far...

Is Jasper’s neck wider than his head? The reason I ask is that Mabel has to wear a harness - she has loads of them. I’d like to get her in a collar but the size of her head (smaller in proportion with her neck) has rendered a collar ineffective for this Miss Houdini. Like the photo - a handsome boy.
