Hi guys. Just wanted to update that I think I am going to adopt some local shelter cats rather than dogs. Thanks for all your help. I have decided cats over ferrets and I don't think I can say why so dm me if you want to know. I will no longer make posts about this topic and I am very sorry for repeating the same thing over and over again. Again, thanks for all the help.

Cats are far-more territorial than dogs, so be aware that adding a cat to a household that has one already can be quite complex - U don't just bring home a new kitten & plop them on the floor, announcing, "Look! - I got U a friend!..."
The resident cat can really get their nose out of joint, & fights or harassment can be serious.

Out-of-box litter tray problems [marking, urinating, defecating, or all 3] IF THEY ARE NOT MEDICAL / physical problems that need vet-attn, generally signal that a cat feels threatened by invaders, who may be human visitors, w/ or w/o their own cats & strange scents, or may be OUTDOOR cats seen via windows, or that spray near doors or windows, & the odor of the trespassers drifts into the house when they're opened.

Thanks for the in detail response. I haven't got cats yet though and I will likely adopt a pair from the shelter that can stay indoors.

One really great thing youve said is that your cats will be indoor cats.. That means less risk of disease. No chance of being killed on the road and they wont be a nuisance to wildlife . Cats are intelligent and make great companions.. Good luck ..
