I left my walking boots in my car, went somewhere to walk Rox and I got them out and realised they smelt really musty and mouldy (my car gets damp so anything I leave in there stinks!).
I then made the mistake of taking the boots in the house but leaving them dirty in a plastic bag, thinking I'll clean them later but a few days on I eventually got them out of the bag and the smell was worse than before and they actually had mould growing on them!

I probably did the wrong thing, I wasn't sure how to clean them so I wiped them with antibac wipes! They still stink! They're sort of like material with mesh type bits on, Karrimors exactly like these Karrimor | Karrimor Mountain Mid Top Ladies Walking Boots | Ladies Walking Boots

How should I go about cleaning them to get rid of the smell?

Ooh, they're nice:)

I know you can get shoe deodorisers - they might help. And/or stick a load of bicarbonate of soda in them, and sprinkle over them, and leave for a while. Not that I've tried either of these.

Baking soda left in. Then aired in sunlight to kill bacteria. My daughter swears by it..

Can't help you but I've had several Karrimors over the years and they are great without being ridiculously expensive.

Dry them out thoroughly and then sprinkle with bicarb and leave for a day or two. Repeat if necessary. Then hang on your cloths line in the sun and wind for a bit :)

Thank you all, I will try bicarb because I have a big box of it already :) ....sun though? Hah! Not likely in Wales lol

We use the green "Nora" wellingtons. They have NO lining and never smell !
