i would suggest you get the countrymans weekly because they have lots of terriers for sale in there, i have had JR's and working bred lakelands with small children can't fault either breed, my daughter is two and the jr follows her everywhere they are like me and my shadow, hope i have helped you

I have a five month old prt she cost 350.prts are recognised by the kennel club and i will be showing her after she turns six months. Jack russell terriers are not kc registered and therefore will not have a kc registered pedigree.

I don't live in the UK, BUT anywhere in the world I would not pay much for a dog that has no papers, has not been vaccinated, for whom the breeders did not have to pay a stud fee for its father because they own it, and for which the breeders did not spend time, effort and money going to dog shows (or races), learning about their breed, researching bloodlines etc etc .

If a show dog goes for around 400, when the breeder has to pay for all of the above - I would not pay 350 for a pet from a backyard breeder.

well i paid £350 for mine and she is worth every penny, and was not bred by a backyard breeder, she was bred to hunt and they only breed proven hunting dogs, which she does and she is a pet and i can honestly say her temprement is second to none, her breeders keep in touch

When I was looking at possible dogs - a very honourable, very switched on, very good (top) breeder told me of a condition they'd found recently called SCA - 'Spino-cerebellar ataxia) - details are here at the northern club website.

The AHT is researching a genetic test, but last I heard they hadn't cracked it yet - so the breeder's advice was only to take a pup from a repeat mating where you were certain the disease had not shown up in a previous litter - it shows up at around 6 - 9 months old, so you can check it out.

It's not fatal, but doesn't look much fun to live with.

so be careful where and from whom you buy.

Weve a client who has a westie X poodle , and it looks as though all the westieis coming out , nasty little bugger at 4 months it is datftor what .but while the are folks paying these prices they will keep breeding them :rant:
