Holiday with puppy

Hello All,
We have a puppy, and I'm now thinking if we might be able to have a short holiday....even just a night away. What are your thoughts?
I've seen dog friendly places, but does that mean *puppy* friendly?
Would it be best just to get someone to look after her for a night, or skip the whole idea....Until when?

All 'dog friendly' generally means is that dogs are allowed. It doesn't mean there won't be chewable furniture, rugs that might be widdled on, and so on and so forth. I've never come across somewhere that asks for the age of the dog, but as with any age dog, if yours does a whoopsy on the sofa or tears a bedsheet, you can expect to pay.

Some dog friendly places ask that dogs don't go upstairs and/or on the furniture. These aren't necessarily set in stone - if your dog always sleeps with you and you ask nicely, guaranteeing that they will only go on their bed (and offering to pay extra deposit/cleaning costs), some (not all) are happy with that. Some ask that you never leave your dog in the accommodation alone.

So look carefully at the photos of the accommodation and consider what your pup will be like in that environment. If she's reasonably confident and laid back, reliably house trained and past the chewing-everything stage, she should be fine. If she's happy in a crate that would give her a secure familiar base, and you won't have to worry about her chewing on the edge of the quilt while you sleep

I agree with @JudyN and some places are more dog friendly than others!

I think it’s important to get your dog used to going away for the night - then you can take them as many places as possible without worry! Just need to make sure that they don’t destroy the furniture....

Thank you all. i think it might be a bit soon to be honest as we're trying to get her in to a routine at home so thinking more about this, it could be disruptive to her perhaps.
What I'll probably do is get a family member to puppy sit at home just for the weekend then when she's a bit older try the staying overnight option.

Quite a few holiday home owners don't accept puppies under the age of 1 so you would need to check with the owner. We started taking Harri away to Bryn Ffynnon from about 4 months old. It was quite stressful from my point of view as he was still not 100% reliable and it isn't always easy to rush them outside in a strange place when they need to "go". We survived though and so did the cottage!
