i have not posted on here before but i enjoy reading about everyones dogs. i have been looking for a whippet pup for a while now and have the chance to get a 8 week old male pup. also needing a new home is a 7 month old girl pup who we also like.

we have a 5 year old bitch and are undecided which would be the best way to go in the interests of our dog

would anyone have any advise? :)

hi

You would be probably better getting a girl as you already have a bitch. If you had a boy pup you would have to consider neutering or you would have a littler of puppies in the fullness of time. Good luck

my girl is spayed so no problem there.just wondering which mix would be best so they get along together.i have heard two girls may fight once the pup is older.

Hi I got a 4 month old male whippy Rocket at christmas time as a companion for my 10 year old bitch Libby and it has been fantastic, the best thing i have ever done. She has completeley changed, they play constantly and are always together. She was obviously miserable as an only dog, the transformation in her was amazing. So i have had no probs with boy girl combination. However, to start with for about 2 weeks she wouldnt have anything to do with him at all then she changed her mind and thinks hes the best thing ever now. Good luck

i must admit it is tempting to get the older pup as she will be able to come on walks straight away. just worried about 2 bitches together. thanks for the advise

HIYA AND WELCOME :D

as long as your bitch gets along with other dogs i cant see why not get the older bitch pup,i don't think fighting would be an issue, that usually happens if they are similar ages, but that can happen with dogs and bitches which is not often, good luck with which pup you choose, but why don't you get both :-

Most Whippets seem to get on well with all other whippets, my bitch certainly does.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your decision :D

i am a bit worried not knowing much about her early days but i suppose she is young enough to learn some new rules :) are whippets good to train?
