Hi there all. My dog - a short haired collie has just relocated to the UK from the Falkland Islands where she was born and spent all of her life (7yo) until now. She totally loves all the new smells and...trees !

But no penguins!

Welcome.

actually...one of the many reasons for joining this forum was to find out what vacuum cleaner works best with dog hairs etc. I found an old post from 2006, but guess technology has advanced since then ?

Welcome :)

I have a Dyson Animal which is meant to be good for dog hair (hence the name). I can't really comment though, as my dog has short, sparse hair and doesn't shed much. And because my OH does the vacuuming;)

Hi and welcome. As for the vacuum clearners...I've got Vax air total home vacuum that I am VERY pleased with. I used to be Dyson user but I much prefer the current one. I just had a look at their website and seems like there has been lot of changes since I got mine, and it is only couple of year old....this is the current model of what I have Air Stretch Upright Vacuum Cleaners | VAX We have lot of carpeted surfaces and I have to tone down the suction or I pull up the carpet!

Thanks everyone for the comments and help. We had a Vax in the Falklands which was great and got one here which doesn't seem to be much use and hence the question. Will rummage around the internet and see what we find, but thanks for the suggestions.....(by the way one of the reasons we don't want the Vax here is because "Pepper" just hates the loud noise - seems a lot noisier one than the other one, plus doesn't get hair up like it should

Hello and welcome:)
I replaced my Animal Dyson with a shark as I found the Dyson was quite heavy for me,but it's rubbish for dog hair so I still use my Dyson for dog hair:)

Hi and welcome. Quite a change for your dog! Good that she is making the adjustment so well.

I can't comment usefully on vacuum cleaners as we have floorboards all through and none of my dogs has been a big shedder.
