Hello everybody!

I'm Dino, and my partner and I share our lives with a crazy 2 year old beagle called Marley.

A couple months back we started filming some of the best dog walks that we could find in our local area. Our adventure so far has taken us all over Cardiff (where we live), and we want to take it all over Wales.

The episodes are short, fun and full of energy, and designed for other dog owners to enjoy and discover new locations to walk. I can't leave any links =(, but if you search YouTube for 'Walk of the Week', we should come up!

We have just launched a kickstarter campaign too, hoping that we can get the bump that we need to carry on doing what we're doing. The video on our kickstarter explains our vision a little more, and we've written about our story too. Again, I can't link but you can search kickstarter for 'Walk of the Week' if you'd like to know more.

Anyway, I was just hoping to say hi and really wanted to see what other dog owners thought of our idea (are we going crazy like everyone keeps telling us??), and if you like what we've made so far!

Thanks

Dino

P.S.
We're just starting out, so if you do like our vibe, it'd be amazing if you'd hit subscribe!!

Anything that encourages people to get out and get walking with their dogs has my vote..

I wont be returning to Wales and its been nearly 40 years since I was there but I remember the stunning scenery and the great hiking trails. If you can encourage residents and visitors alike by showing them whats on the doorstep then thats great not crazy at all.. ( although I like to keep some of my best walks under my hat because sharing means the risk of ruining the peace of special places)
Good luck with your project

Hello, and thanks a lot! There is just so much to explore...

Anyway, thanks for the support! =)

Welcome @pre7tysimple :)

I know how hard it can be starting something new - I don’t know what you were doing before but if it was like me (completely different) then it’s even harder!

Agree with the above - anything that gets you out walking and discovering new places is good.

Best of luck with it!

I tend to rule out Wales because of all the sheep - what could be really useful if you could mention or list any walks where you're not likely to encounter any sheep, as so many people simply can't let their dog off lead if they might be lurking round the next corner.

But then again, maybe there aren't any rural sheep-free walks in Wales at all!

Good luck with your venture.

Good luck - I love walking in Wales ( Well I would have to wouldn't I!). We have a folder of walks we've put together for guests to help them. I'll be looking up your you tube link :)

Hey, thanks everyone for your support!!!

We started our whole venture back in January, and it's been a rollercoaster ever since, haha, but we love it. Learning so much each day, and wouldn't have it any other way! Just fingers crossed we can make it our full-time job!

What was it you got into, and from? We'd love to hear your stories, as we are in the middle of ours and it's always good to learn from others!

Haha, yes in rural Wales it can be a potential issue. So far we've been filming in Cardiff, but we do plan to go further afield as soon as we can! If you're ever in Cardiff, check out our Bute Park episode- it's in the centre of town, and is an amazing place to go explore!

Ahh thanks so much! Yes, we will have to share some great walks, and hopefully when we're in your area we can go shoot them (together even!). Where is it you are based in Wales? =)

Hi and welcome, that is a great idea! I live in the Carmarthenshire area of Wales, and although we are surrounded by big green fields there are hardly any good off-lead dog walks! I struggle to find places to go that don't just involve boring back roads.
@JudyN, very good point, on our walk today I had to be careful, we had only been that way once before, and because we got to a part of the trail where I know there is a house with dogs so I put Roxy's lead on just in case, shortly after that house there was a group of cute goats which were free to roam the whole trail. I know if I didn't have her on her lead she would have chased them! On this same walk, in the fields and safe from Roxy's prey drive we also saw horses, sheep, cows, chickens and pigs!...not one other dog though! :O

Thanks! Hopefully we can get round to exploring Carmarthenshire soon!! When you really start looking, there's absolutely loads to find... We're excited to get out of the city!

Yes, I'm sure there is more than people think, I've found a couple of new ones just by exploring further afield from the house

Hello! I think it’s a great idea!
We go to Wales or the West Country every summer and often find that although we’re in the countryside, there’s not actually anywhere to let your dog off. Mostly we end up on beaches because of this reason.

It's true! Growing up, our family dog (Casper the springer spaniel) always went on the same walk every day. It was a great walk and he was always off lead so he loved it but we never really branched out that much. Fast forward to now and we know so many different spots and they're all so close to home! It's so nice to have a choice each day... Definitely spices things up a little =).

We are dying to move out of the city and into the countryside!! And going to the beach is probably one of the best possible outcomes isn't it? It's one of the few places we can let Marley (our beagle) off lead and almost 100% trust that he won't disappear or get into trouble somehow (re: sheep, or cars!). Long term goals is to get a van to drive anywhere for a day or two and explore every dog-friendly nook and cranny that we can find... =)

Guess I'm spoilt for choice sometimes,it's very rare we come across any sheep. They prefer to live at the side of the road or down in the village, strange creatures but tasty. The tourists found it amusing last year when the cars stopped at the zebra crossing to let six sheep and thier lambs cross the road. Anyway,it's very rare mine go on the lead, so I guess I'm lucky.

Haha, people seem to love it when they come to Wales and see sheep...

Yes, you are very lucky!! Our beagle is a nuisance off-lead. He's been off and on all his life (2+ years), but he keeps pushing his luck and then going back on lead for some time. He has a habit of finding any gap, in any fence, on any walk, and he knows he's not allowed to so once he's through it, he's gone like the wind. Sometimes it takes 30-45minutes to get him back... Sometime's we just wait. One time, we actually flew the drone to find him. Absolute pest; he always ruins it for himself....

So yeah, if there's any sheep within a 1-mile radius, he will find them and he will chase them, and we will not be able to get him back! Thankfully there's no sheep in the city, but it's a miracle he hasn't been hit by a car yet. So far, big open beaches seem to be the safest bet. One day we'll get him a brother who will hopefully keep him entertained, and nearby... #facepalm =P

Hello, I used to live in Wales. Cardiff has been my favourite ever place to live. I also lived in Aberystwyth, Neath Valley, Newtown and Brecon lol.

Ahh you've lived all over Wales! I have lived in Cardiff for most of my life, having lived in Swansea as a kid, and I absolutely LOVE Cardiff. It's big enough to have everything you need, but small enough to pretty much be able to walk anywhere. I really do love Cardiff as a city, I just think I long for the countryside a little bit now... We live by a train line (...) and Newport Road, so a little bit of peace (and some quieter dog walking spots) would be perfect.

If you've lived in Cardiff, you may have been to some of the walks that we have filmed at! Most recently we visited Roath Park Lake, which I assume you'll know of? I can't leave a link but if you click the website on my profile you can access all of the walks we have been to and showcased (or just search it on YouTube).

In fact, Cardiff TV are filming an interview with us this week about our Walk of the Week series (!) which should be exciting. =)
