Our beautiful girls have now been with us for 5 months and now have all their feathers and lovely red combs and faces.

I would love to have hens but we are away too much. I did rescue some ex laying hens and donated them to a lovely community park nearby. They were free range as it happened but would have been killed at the end of their commercial productivity; it could easily have been battery hens that we got. The rescue was called A Wing and a Prayer, which I thought was very apt!

Lucky girls.

The ex intensive egg layers do adjust quiet rapidly and live for many more years. They just need someone to give them a chance.
