Help Please! "whippets Don't Sit" ??? And Training &

Thank you Graeme, I will have a go. Dora now knows that the click noise means a treat and is sitting every time I make a move just in case it involves food without even being asked

She also somehow managed to get under the duvet between me and OH last night without waking either of us up, I woke up as usual at about six to take her for a wee and discovered her paw on my face and head on the pillow beside me. I'm reassured by reading the board that this is normal whippy behaviour, I'm guessing I need to get cracking on her pyjamas - or just let her get in the bed I guess when she's fully grown we might notice sooner

Unfortunately she has also learned to leap clean over my desk :S

:lol: - she sounds like my pup, Tizzy Izzy!!

She can jump straight up onto the kitchen surface from a standstill - a "trick" she learnt at 4 months old (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

Molly is very good at sitting........ unfortunately a lot of the time it is when she has jumped up the back and sits very proudly on the roof of our convertible ( CAR) :lol: Hubby not best pleased.

Dudley does not like to sit at all ( he is a bit of a wus and he may get his bum cold and dirty )..... so at the moment we are teaching him to 'stand' .

Ben does not sit anymore as at 15 years old he finds it difficult....... but he does stay on the command 'stop'

Kendall does sits and dons well but we struggle with the stays as our training class is outside, h will do them at home but not there !! He gets cold. He has done brnze award and is training for silver which we could do if only he would o a 2 minute stay LOL!!! I do training for the basics but his real love is flyball which he is doing well at - you need basic training to do flyball or agility - we tried both and he refers flyball. He puts the others to shame with his speed at getting to that tennis ball!! I would recommend it to anyone - its great fun.

I've been taking Gracie (aged 6 months) to training classes since she was 14 weeks and the trainer has since admitted to me that she thought of whippets and other narrow headed dogs, as being somewhat 'slow on the up take' and nervous, based on her past experience. However, she freely admits Gracie is intelligent, if somewhat stubborn and one of the friendliest (some might say pushy!) puppies in the class. She has completed her foundation course, jumped two classes and is working towards bronze/silver. She does all basic commands, sit, down, wait, touch and recall although I know there's going to be trouble when we can't use treats. Gracie knows exactly when I don't have any and then isn't half as keen to do anything! :b

Try rubbing some liver cake or cheese under your fingernails for the test, its gross but they till think you have treats Lol!!
