This is happening in my garden,not when he's out,which is why i'm so concerned about what it could be,& no,he's definitely not eaten cow poo :x (w00t)
 
Just a thought - but do you have a pond that he drinks out of?? There are all sorts of aphids (sp) etc at this time of year.

Hope he is feeling better soon :wub:

Debs , cant you remember me telling you about this happening to Mollee a few weeks ago ?

Some mornings she was so bad she couldnt see out of one eye at all , :eek: but by the time id come home at lunch time , all prepared to go to vets , it was all gone , :)) She had it for over a week and it went as suddenly as it came , never did find out what it was , Poor murphy . :( d
 
Blimey,yes,i'd forgotten about poor mollee,bless.

It's weird,isn't it,i just hope Murph doesnt have any more probs,it's happened for 5 mornings now ,except today,but it was pi****g down & he only shot out for a quick pee!
 
I even follwed her about the garden to see where she went , but it came up in front of my eyes , all over her body too . :eek: Most strange (w00t) . Id forgooten all about it till this thread , Im sure it will pass, we must keep a note of the time of year etc , in case it happens again .

Yes,I was worried when spring came as that's when Flyn had his bad reaction,but thankfully, nothing!

That's why i'm so surprised that Murph has the same & it's nearly autumn :eek:
 
Yeh , thats true and why only ONE dog get it , not all , here, its only been Mollee :blink:
 
This is really strange isn't it? At least all of the dogs affected seem to be okay after a while :thumbsup:

Poor Murph, he looks so doeful (hope this is a word (w00t) ) in the pics, hope he feels better soon.

I have heard of all sorts of reactions to different grass seeds over the years though, and whips do seem to have quite sensitive skin.
 
So far,so good :sweating:

My garden is split into two,& i let him out first thing in the other side where he's been ok.He's now been out in the main garden for the last half hour,& no problems :thumbsup:

He's managed to rub his nose & make it bleed,but i've bathed it with salt water & it's settled down again.

The strange thing is that where the swellings were,it's left a small spot under the skin which later erupts & bleeds.I've never seen anything like this before & don't really want to again! :(

A little ladybird thing bit ME a few weeks ago on the arm (ladybird like - but green black and yellow) tiny...... and my arm came up in the hugest lump youve ever seen - little critters. (w00t) wonder if it was one of those :unsure:
 
Don't know if this is relevant or not,but horses suffer with a thing called sweet-itch which comes up on certain parts of their bodies-usually top of tail & base of mane & it looks similar, starts off as small lumps and if aggravated erupt and bleed but they're incredibly itchy & the horse can't help but scratch :( They are caused by very small midges which some horses have an allergic reaction to their saliva when they bite hence the lumps.

I have found that it's worse first thing in the morning so this could be similar also if it could be that a fly repellent might help :) I don't know if it is the same thing but certainly the resulting lumps look the same.And also from my experience with it, it comes & goes just as mysteriously as your all stating it has with the dogs :blink:

maybe this is not relevent at all but might explain the lumps?

P.S it seems to affect horses worse in early spring & late summer early autumn!.
 
I thought it sounded like sweet itch, some of those little gnat things hatch out of the grass this time of year and like us some dogs are more prone to being bitten than others.

Hope it clears up soon, its a shame he broke the skin.

Same thing happened to Lola on bankholiday weekend she came out in lumps and her one eye nearly closed also a lump inside her mouth. Gave her some piriton and they all seemed to disappear by lunch time. But by the evening and during the night they reappeared the other eye this time and more on her body. She was really hot to touch - gave her some more piriton and this seemed to do the trick. Nothing since then. I was baffled and wondered if it was stinging nettles that set this allergy off or insect sting of some kind but could find no puncture wounds. Strange. Hope your boy is better now.
 
When Flyn came up in lumps last year,i thought it could be nettles or goose grass,but it wasn't!

I'm baffled as to what caused Murph's reaction,& i'm sure i will never find out.

Fortunately,he's been ok for 3 days now & his nose has healed up nicely.

I just hope this is the end of this problem now :sweating:
 
I knew that picture reminded me of something- you're absolutley right it does look very simillar to sweet itch
 
It does look similar to sweet itch,BUT,it wasn't itchy,though there could be some connection.

Whatever it was,i hope it never happens again & thanks to all of you for your thought's & concern :thumbsup: :huggles:
