Happy Birthday Bluebelle & Nina

:D She's a really beautiful blue! Happy Birthday girls!

She is lovely  (praise indeed from one who doesn't usually like blues). How common is it for them to have the darker eye colour, most blues seem to be dilute?

Good question- any chance my baby will have such stunning eyes?

I have seen some blue Danes with rather dark eyes. Dee Dee, mum of my new puppy also has dark eyes and the puppy looks as she may have brown eyes. I have to admit I prefer dark eye to the yellow.

Bluebelle is  the most beautiful shade of  blue, although in this moment she is loosing her winter coat.  She is exactly the colour I used to strive for when breeding blue great Danes.
It is a very deep, rich blue. Is there any 'recipe' for this? When breeding blue ducks (different species and genes admittedly) you get better, richer blues from black/blue crosses, rather than blue/blue or blue/white (splash). Being homozygous for full black helps as well.
