Hello

I have spoken to a breeder about a puppy, who will be ready end of Feb. She has said that she will not vaccinate at 8 weeks and thinks it is better to have them done at 9 weeks?!? any advice. She is happy to get it vaccinated at 9 weeks for us though.

Not sure what to think?

Did the lady explain why she would only vaccinate at 9 weeks? There must be a reason.

The only downside (that I can think of) to a later first vaccination is that the second will then also be later and without it, you won't be able to walk your pup and allow it to socialize with other dogs. At around 12 weeks, pups go through a fearful stage so introducing him to as many people and experiences as possible and making it enjoyable before this stage begins is really important.

Some breeders will vaccinate from 7 weeks so not sure why she wont do it??

Asteria is right with socialising side! You really need to get them into a puppy class so they can begin to learn and play.

Just ask her again. Offer to pay for the vaccination and see if that changes her mind.

If she says no again then you really need to push her and get a reason as to why she wont do it.

That does seem quite late as everyone has said you want to be able to socialise your puppy as early as you can!

Have you got a reason as to why she is doing it so late?
