My dog was treated for an ununited anconeal process at 4 months old. He had it pinned plus an ulnar osteotomy. Surgery seemed to work, but 2 years on he has gone lame again.

Had X-rays and ultrasound and it looks like it’s arthritis. Vet says pretty much the only/best thing to do long term is steroid injections into the joint.

I’m just looking for recommendations of supplements I could give him to help. Joint supplements? Anybody have any experience using cbd products?

Thanks

No experience of CBD, but plenty of other supplements. Nothing suits every dog but almost always there are good results from something,, though it may take a month or two to show. Green-lipped Mussel, YuMove, Boswellia, homeopathic mix Rhus tox, Ruta graveolens and Arnica, Bioflow magnetic collar, amber beads collar (yes really) fish oils, so many more to try before steroids. Steroids have their place but they are not cures - they simply disable the immune response. For that and other reasons, they are not good long-term meds.

Oh bless you! Poor doggy too! :( I'm not sure about dogs, but humans and horses for sure do great with golden paste! Make it yourself, plenty of recipies online! FB has a golden paste group!) It is Tumeric based with oil and black pepper basically, but excellent anti-inflammatory and I guarantee your doggy will improve within a week! :) Best of luck whichever route you choose. :)

On golden paste - I've used it for soft tissue injury in my dog. I froze it in an ice cube tray to keep portion sized cubes to hand.

Oh I am so sad to hear that! You sound, however, that you have really done your dog proud! :)

aww thanks yeah I've spent thousands at the vets on two of my dogs in off sick at moment with pain from work so it's just typical I would need to go to vets again allready

I use CBD oil for my two pups, a microdose x twice a day. I use it myself so get theirs from the same trusted supplier, third party lab tested and I swear by it. I can't post links as I'm new but do look on FB at the CBD Oil Users group, they have a sister group CBD and Pets, really worth joining even if it's to mooch around for information. They're US based and they actually test and recommend oils, we don't get as much choice in the UK.
