Hi dog lovers...looking for some tips on all weather comfortable footwear...my dog is now 1 year old so im heading into cold weather walks for the first time. I invested in what i thought would be decent all weather footwear a pair of salomen ultra 3 gortex weather proofboots at a cost of £100! Had them since may and theyre bloody useless. This morning beautiful dewy sunny morning and my feet were drenched and like blocks of ice when i got home. No fun . So if anyone can give me advice on all seasom footwear to keep my tootsies toastie warm id be most grateful. I dont trust reviews anymore as this pair had a set of raving reviews but obviously not from twice a day, everyday normal dog walkers! Thanks!
 
I have some Goretex boots and in their younger days they were fine for wading through shallow streams, but if I walked through wet grass, I'd end up with wet socks, like you. My favourite boots are without doubt Scarpa Terra leather walking boots. After my first pair started to leak (I'm really bad at maintaining them), I 'upgraded' to the Scarpa Ranger, but they are heavier so not quite so good for me. I still wear my first Terras when it's dry even though they're in a right old state - I refuse to throw them out until I can see my socks through them, because they are as comfortable as slippers (and I really struggle to find comfortable shoes, having wide toes and narrow heels).

They're not cheap, but if they're within your budget, it would be worth finding a pair to try.
 
I agree it’s wet grass that does it, especially early mornings. I have some cheap ankle wellies that keep me dry on the morning walk. Then just wear normal north face walking shoes rest of time which protect against muddy puddles etc
 
I have been using Hi tec waterproof boots during winter months and similar trainers during summer without problems. Similar to this model; HI-TEC STORM WP - Ladies Waterproof Hiking / Walking Boots - Size UK 4 - EU 37. | eBay It is not expensive brand but I do tend to get at least full year wear out of a pair of boots before they get to be gardening boots for yet another year. :D I find Hi-tecs are not too heavy for me and they are not too narrow last neither.
OH talks highly of his Jack Pyke boots Jack Pyke Fieldman Boots | Fieldman Hunting Boots (jackpykeshop.co.uk) and as their smallest size would fit me, I'm going to treat myself for a pair that should see that I won't need rely wearing wellies when the weather gets really 'moist' :rolleyes:

I like yard boots - like leather wellies. I treated myself to a pair of Dubarry boots but they aren't for dog walking, I use a cheaper brand like Kanyon for that.
 
I do use my Dubarrys for dog walking. Horribly expensive but I've now had them 14 years, so they get cheaper every year. Sensationally comfortable, and have never let me down with the waterproofing. I get men's boots as I have a wide foot. You do need to be meticulous about caring for them, though, so if that isn't your thing, don't get them.
 
I might use mine for dog walking when they are less new!
 
I invested in a pair of Dubarry's... expensive mistake, they didn't work for me at all as they didn't grip my feet enough. I can't walk any distance in wellies either, for the same reason, and fibromyalgia means that a bit of discomfort at the foot level soon transmits itself up my body to my shoulders and neck. I seem to need footwear that holds my foot quite firmly. Crocs are a complete non-starter!
 
I like Muck Boots – I’ve got a pair of the short boots. They are warm, comfortable, definitely waterproof and without the hassle of having to untie wet laces at the end of a walk.
 
Thank you all for some great suggestions, I shall get googling! I am hoping that the website I bought the expensive solamans will take them back and I can get a refund and get something a bit more durable but will see! Nothing worse then having wet ice blocks for feet on this cold mornings!

Many thanks for the links, I am a size 3 so unfortuantely the Jack Pykes are out for me but they look just the job! I think I am going to invest in a pair of muck boots for the impending mudfest that is bound to happen in the fields near me and then a pair of hi techs for spring, they actually look really nice and comfy!
 
I always wear Hoggs of Fife hiking boots, affordable, light and really comfy as I do a lot of miles in all weathers. But I do always add regular waterproofing to the boots to improve and maintain the waterproofing. I use Nikwax spray which seems to work well.

That is well ventilated pair of boots...no sweaty toes for you :D
 
We all hope someone still loves us when we are old and wrinkly with bits missing....
 
I wear Meindl Bhutans. I’ve tried many boots but these have been the best so far. Expensive but worth it!
