It is, however, the responsible thing to do. The diseases that vaccination prevents are all life threatening. Any insurance claim, for any of the diseases that could be prevented, will be invalidated by the dog not being vaccinated.
Thank you very much for your prompt replies. Hopefully my friend will take the responsible approach. Have a lovely day and hope you can enjoy the sunshine.
Their are various ideas about vaccinations, a lot of people think we over vaccinate our dogs. After the first round its possible to do a titre test to check if the immune system is still protecting the dog and only re vaccinate if / when required.
I dont vaccinate my dogs every year . There is research that shows we vaccinate too often . I give my first set of vaccines , then the boosters then titre test there on . And of course sick dogs should not be vaccinated either . My insurance has never been affected and i can prove that my dogs still have immunity because of the titre test.
This is very good watching ..
this man was responsible for helping to develop the vaccines we use for our dogs now , and even he says they don't need to be done every year , and he doesnt give his own dogs vaccines every year
I can't remember how much the testing was to be honest ..but i think its around £75. but I'm not worried so much about the cost , but worried about over vaccinating
Catherine ) Driscoll has extensively researched vaccinations and is always happy to talk , and advise people .
Her website Canine Health concern has lots of good information that is backed up with research .
The vaccine debate is one I have long since followed with interest! And I too have tested before vaccinating. I don't judge anyone and I expect not to be judged but in my opinion I don't want to over vaccinate my dogs unneccesarily. I actually know of multiple people who DON'T vaccinate. I remember reading an article a while back showing the percentages and there was apparently a higher % of dogs who had gotten ill as a result fo the vaccines than the % of dogs who caught the diseases the vaccines were there to present. I can't for the life of me remember what the source was so cannot account for its accuracy it just stuck in my mind! My dogs are all rescues so when they first come to me they get their vaccines as if they were a puppy and boosters
