Has anyone got feedback on these that are effective in a rural area? We have a nervy rescue and absolutely heartbreakingly his brother got spooked last night, fled and sadly died. We are devastated today and I am a nervous wreck that something could happen and we wouldn’t be able to find ours, due to the lack of decent mobile coverage in our area. I know I’m being reactive but equally I want to protect him as much as I can.

I think most trackers need a good mobile signal ...
I would keep your dog on lead to keep him safe ...one of my terriers is an onlead dog and he has got used to a 10 metre flexi lead..xx

We don’t really let him off, and certainly won’t in the future. We’re going to tie two training leads together. It was in case of any other incident eg we got him a harness and he slipped out of it, in case we trip and drop the lead or whatever. I’m so devastated about today I just want to think of something extra. I can’t cope with the last 24hrs. We loved his brother and his lovely adopters. It’s the realisation of how unpredictable rescues are and how vulnerable they are xx

I'm sorry to hear this.

Houdini harnesses have an extra strap that makes them very hard if not impossible to escape from. And if you can attach a lead or long line to a walking belt, that eliminates the risk from dropping or having it snatched from your hands.

Thank you. Where we live has limited signal and sometimes no street lights. I just want to put all I can in place after today xx

I am so sorry about the loss of your dog's brother.

I've looked at trackers for my little wretch and concluded that they were unlikely to work. They aren't good in remote areas and don't work well in woodland which is my prime concern. If Harri scents a deer or rabbit he's off.... We lost him for 3 hours once but luckily someone nabbed him and rang me. I aged considerably.

He's now pretty much on a 10m longline now - much better than trying to fasten two leads together.
