There are many origami dogs available on this page (above 100) , Some of them are really easy to produce - check the beginning of the page,

other much harder to make, but yet - most of the origamis come with step-by-step instructions, so you can try it and see how hard it is

I think it definitely worths to try - maximum possible waste is just time & piece of paper
