Hello!

I've just joined the website as I found that this would be a great opportunity as part of my research for my Final Major Project for my foundation year– I am going to (hopefully!) major in Product Design. My project is called “Dog Behaviour”, I plan to base my idea on helping new and current dog owners understand the full implications of being a pet owner. I would like to create a product based on this hypothesis assisting training and monitoring of dogs

So I would love to know if there are any products that you would love to see made in terms of monitoring or training your pet or if there any issues/habits that your pet does and would like to see a product to help this. ANY ideas would be very helpful in terms of me starting my project around.

Thank you for reading and I hope to see your replies!

What about a tracking device for lost/stolen dogs? I understand that there are some on the market but that the range they offer is not very wide. Would be best if it was part of the dog's microchip though this may be a step too far?!

Sorry, just seen the subject is about behaviour and helping owners understand the full impact of pet ownership. Apart from filming dogs that are causing their owners anxiety I can not think of any technology that would fit your criteria. Most behaviourists already have hours of footage of dog doing what dogs do.

A tracking device might make a very commercial product though :)

I believe the problem with combining a tracker with the microchip is the battery life

JoanneF, in a way its battery life in that microchips do not contain a battery, injecting a battery would not be a good idea. As to the original post sorry I can not think of anything.

Yes, that's what I meant

Of course! Would have to be on a collar then which would not be any good if the dog is stolen unless it can be hidden inside the collar in some way. Was just thinking about how they can track stolen cars but not our precious pets :(

Thanks for the replies!

Maybe I should have had added an example of a theme that I could base my product on e.g Puppies Teething! a product that could help them from chewing on walls too much. Or if there is any bad habits that you would like to help stop.

I think the collar with a tracking device would be a great idea, I'll keep that in mind! Thank you

I think the collar already exists but it has a limited range.

Dog GPS tracking are already available and cheap enough to purchase

Http://Dogleadsandharnesses.com has these available and reviewed just search GPS

As for product design what about a dog training device that teaches commands for each different breed of dog all dogs train different and it would be great to have some kind of dog training robot
