Does whippets have asthma ??

I all, I am so new here and desperately I found this forum while doing a research about breathing problems for whippets. Our baby boy Blue we is 1yo he’s done this evening like an asthma attack for few seconds and me and my husband got so panic that I almost called the emergency Vet. I read some old posts here and I’ve kind of cool down …please if anybody can advise what can we do when this happens? We didn’t have any issues with Blue ..he is very active he runs every morning for an hour and weekends 3-5 hours in the park. This afternoon he was very lazy like sad and he also didn’t eat his food just some treats.

Dogs often do something called 'reverse sneezing' - like sneezing, but where the air goes in through the nose sharply, rather than out through the nose. The reason for this isn't clear, but it is absolutely normal. You could have a look at videos of reverse sneezing on Youtube and see if it matches what Blue was doing.

How does he seem now? If he's back to his normal self, and if you think this was reverse sneezing, I wouldn't worry. Could he have seemed a bit off because he could sense you worrying? If he still doesn't seem right, and particularly if he seems to have breathing difficulties, it could be worth seeing your vet.

If the issue persists, it would be worth a vet check to make sure he hasn't inhaled a piece of grass or similar. Very very occasionally dogs develop a fungal infection in the nose. Kennel cough sometimes manifests as snorting too. But reverse sneezing is very common, and nothing to worry about. So see how he goes.

Blue he’s back on track he woke up happy today eat all his food went for a long walk and now chewing his toys.I’ve watched lots of videos on YouTube and your replies helped a lot.
