Dennis is very fortunate that I now work from home and Oliver has a dog friendly office he can go to but we still need our dog walker on occasions! I know that she loves Dennis and he loves her so I always feel happy knowing they are out together.

Does anyone here use one?

Yes! I have had a dog walker for about a year now. I know people can be very quick to judge about having a dog if you need a dog walker for it but unfortunately when my ex husband up and left my whole life and circumstances changed dramatically. Cut a long story short I am now in a position where I need the dogs walked in the middle of the day. We have a long walk in the Morning - between 3 and 5 miles and then 30 mins or so in the evening but she collects them in the middle of the day and they go on an hour walk with her. They absolutely love her and get so excited when she arrives. It's also nice for them to get to socialise with other dogs they have made doggy "friends" Living alone and having to work the way I do she is an absolute god send. Yes the dogs couldn probably go without a midday walk and be happy with just out for a wee and a quick play (whippets - happy to sleep) and I would certainly have more money that way but I prefer knowing their day is broken up

I think it actually shows how much you care for your dog @Cash_Dolly if you have a dog walker! and being on the other side of things (I have been going out with a dog walker recently to get a few more pennies in the bank!) and the dogs we picked up for a group walk had the BEST time running around and playing! It was so lovely to see.

I think your's are very lucky! :)

I think every dog owner should have a dog walker - by that I mean someone who could step up in an emergency if needed. None of us know when we are going to get stranded away from home, sprain an ankle, etc. so it's just sensible in my opinion to be prepared. We have used a dog walker fewer than once a year; for family weddings and similar. But before trusting our dog to her I wanted to check out her approach, how many dogs she walks at a time, how she transports them if necessary, her criminal record checks (this person will have access to your house when you aren't there), whether the dog responds well to her, what insurance she has, and whether she is qualified in canine first aid. Before any occasion we use her, I will do several walks with her to get my dog used to her. For people that work, dog walkers provide the opportunity for dog ownership that might otherwise be impossible. But even if you don't need a regular walker, I think it's just sensible to have one on hand, that you already know - because in an emergency you won't want to have to spend time researching.

I have used a friend to walk mine for a few weeks when, due to an operation, I wasn't able to take her out properly myself. Folly knew her and her dogs and she knew Folly so I was happy with it.

Thats good and essential questions to ask! thanks JoanneF

I am a dog walker/sitter and it's such a rewarding job. I love it and all of my dogs and you get to see a bit of the world as well, in the daylight hours :)
