Freddie tore her dew claw today; off we went to the vets who snipped it ,dabbed some antiseptic on it and said “if it starts to weep sprinkle some flower on it”

I looked at him  and asked why. He said “it will turn to paste, set and seal the wound” . Any one else heard of this remedy?. If so plain or self raising :)

Vet wound powder would be better . Its keeps the flies away too , You can get it from most horsey place` s . Never heard about flour though  Still never too old to learn ;)

Flour is new to me as well, wound powder may be available at places like Pets at Home or similar, but don't quote me on that!!

cornflour works much better- you don't need to use so much

does he mean flowers of sulphur? :- "

We use flour when we run out of styptic powder. Just regular all purpose flour.

Our vet told us about it many years ago. Also said that you can rub a bar of soap over the bleeding quick. Never did try that though, always figured that it would sting.

I keep rabbits and years ago I was told to use talcolm powder if you ever snipped a rabbits claw by mistake and it always dried it up quickly. I suppose it would be the same for dogs.
