I have just read your post.  Sid got bit by another dog this morning while out with my oh - exactly the same would as Tilly - not bleeding but an open would.  I have been wondering all day should I take him to the vet - and after seeing Tillys wound it is the same.  I have been bathing it in salt water and aloe vera. 
I expect like me you have felt sick all day and upset.  Sid keeps licking his wound does Tilly?  And doesn't it look just awful.  I tried putting a dresssing on but it just kept coming off.  Have been reading about the lavender oil so will give it a try.

Hope Tilly heals up soon - do you think they will be scarred?  If ever they meet up they can compare "war wounds".
