Cufts Winners

I cant really remember the Leicester track. I was very young when they closed it down and turned it into an housing estate. My grandad used to take me when i was little as my great-uncle used to race dogs there. Had my first Greyhound aged 15 and raced it at Nottingham, Dawn Wheatly was the trainer. The first dog i trained myself was from Theo Mentzis?? Minnesota Girl, cost a fortune, only had it one week when she fretted, slipped her lead and ran into a main road and was killed instantly.

Back onto the subject of past Crufts winners, it is last years winner that got me hooked on Whippets. Having followed its progress on BBC and watching it win i thought bu&&er greyhounds lets go for the smaller version and do something more sophisticated like showing!!!

So here i am less than a year later with one week to go til my first show :sweating:

I know Dawn really well ) What a small world , We had dogs with her at Derby . My fathe r in law wanted his half ? :wacko: of the greyhound to race NGRC so Derby it was and when Derby closed i had her home and flapped her at Long Eaton . But Dawn was one of the few peps I d let have one of my dogs . Did u know she had remarried ?

Jax, is Dawn still training and is she still at Stamford? Been trying to track her down but the NGRC website cant find her, didnt know she had changed her name. Whilst looking for people, do you know the whereabouts of Nicky Chambers, thats another one fell off the end of the earth!!!

DeeDee is such a lovely dog and i would love to meet her. One of my neighbours is related to Mrs ???Yacoby/Wright???? and her son rides for Workington Speedway but i always miss her when she brings the dog up here.

No , packed in training about 4years ago . shes` still at Stamford , I will give her a ring and ask her if I can give you her number. Do you want to pm me with your name :blink: Nicky Chambers sold up and I THINK they went to Spain , although Charlie still has one or two of their dogs .

It doesnt matter about her number, she might not remember me, it was over 10 years ago since i last saw her. Cant believe Nicky packed it in, she had it made!!

Will make sure i get to see Dee Dee on Hound Day.
