I mentioned to a dog walker this morning that Dennis is suffering from dry skin at the moment. I think it's from all of the swimming he has been doing.

She recommended adding some coconut oil to his meals. Does anyone else do this?

Is there anything else I can do to help his dry skin?

You could also rub coconut oil into his skin. It helps with the dryness, does no harm if he licks it, and will make him smell gorgeous.

For a feeding supplement I would go for a salmon oil though.

Thanks Joanne. I'm going to do this right now!

Murphy goes mad for it.. Rubbed onto his coat or a bit in his food its all helpful. Do buy the bio oil though..

I give all my dog's coconut oil and it works great for them, they have lovely shiny coats and its also good for dry paws just rub a bit in. One item i always keep :)

Well I tried it! Can’t tell if it’s a success on his skin yet but he definitely enjoyed eating the blobs that kept falling on the floor :D

How do you put it on their paws @Whippylove wothout making a mess everywhere?

@Josie i take a little dab rub it in my hands and then massage into their feet, my dogs enjoy it. Its also good for our dry hands too works wonders on my eczema !

My dog had bald patches and this works a treat when rubbed in. Taken orally it helps to keep the teeth clean and freshens breath.

Murphy loves his coconut oil he gets a bit added to his dinner and sometimes if hes been swimming a lot I rub a bit through his coat ( like the brylcreem boy).. My daughter uses it for he feet and has to do it in secret or get mobbed by her 4 cats who go crazy for it!
