Bappit, the reason collies predominate in agility is that they turn so much better than any other breed, and agility is not just about straight line speed, but more about the ability to turn in mid flight, stop on a sixpence and interperate the handlers body movements. While we all adore our lurchers, the truth is the collie is the supreme agility dog. Bar none. I have 2 lurchers, 1 whippet, and none of them can beat my other halfs slowest agility collie. Her best one has now retired after several years as a senior; my hounds could always beat him in a straight race, but never on an agility course.gina said:

What you say is true, speed doesn't always win, a fast dog can knock poles off or anticipate the next obstacle wrongly. Time & again I've watched super fast dogs demolish a course & seen slower dogs go clear. When the fast collies get it right it's wonderful to watch. my lurcher isn't mega fast but she's very accurate, if she knocks a pole off people ask is she o.k. as it hardly ever happens.wunwin said:
