Cleaning teeth

Fully raw or part raw, any little bit of raw is a good start. A chicken wing every day or 2 to 3 times a week is very advantageous.

Raw feeding is as easy as you wish to make it, there are plenty of raw meat suppliers around and online. Many pet stores for convenience sell frozen meats and some sell packs of complete balanced nuggets by "Natures Menu".

A raw diet means a variety of assorted types of meats, raw meaty bones, gristle, offal /organs and natural fat, none of this has to be given as a balanced meal every day. As dogs feed over a course of a few weeks their food intake will balance itself. Small amounts of fruit and veg may be fed, raw and preferably liquidised to aid digestion.

There does not need to be any blood or mess. It can be as convenient as the many makes of processed foods that are used these days and much more healthy.

There are some lovely books that can help us all understand our dogs and how they evolved and what a dogs have fed on over millions of years, and still do even now.

If you register with the "Honeys" website, you will be able to order their handbook "Honeys Natural Feeding for Dogs" absolutely FREE. This is a fantastic little informational book, which is easy to read and understand. You will get NO nuisance emails suggesting that you purchase any of their products!!

Other small books of great interest; "Work Wonders" by Tom Lonsdale, "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats" by Kymythy Schultze, and of course "Give Your Dog a Bone" by Ian Billinghurst ( this one can get a bit repetitive).

Some of the above books can be purchased from Amazon for 1p plus postage of £2.80. These 1p books are mostly new and in exceptional condition !

Enjoy your chicken wings :)

Thank you very much 'excuse me'. I will take a look at these books and will definitely visit Honeys website.

I've still not done this, we're transitioning over to Gentle Dog Food (another recommendation from here, thanks folks :)) which has taken a bit longer as we had a bag of other dog food we're going to use up first before mixing Gentle with his "normal" food, then moving to Gentle completely. He certainly likes it, that's for sure.

Thanks Peegee for the update and encouragement - can I borrow some of your courage please? ;)

Sure! Evie's now had her second chicken wing - thoroughly enjoyed it - ate it much quicker than the first though. I decided to give it to her as a replacement for her second meal (teatime) but she did hover around the kitchen looking expectantly for her usual bowl of kibble!! We didn't give in though as I'm pretty sure she's plenty big enough and already has quite a few of training treats most days!
