Chihuahua puppy

So my brother said to me three people said to him as he was walking homs"There's a puppy running around, and could he call the RSPCA."! So he went to look and there was is in fact a little chihuahua puppy running around! Another guy was looking for him too (after taking his dog home), but he gave up after a while.

So I went to help, but no luck. One lady (with a dog I might add) said "Find him and sell him for a £1000" He's someone's companion, not a commodity!

All can do is hope, hope he goes up to someone or RSPCA find him. But knowing the area, can't help but worry about the poor might. He was scared of people but bold enough to be chasing after pigeons and running in and out of the bike junction. Just can't believe the stupidity of some people, it's 2018 how hard would it be to look up the local dog warden etc. While you keep an eye on the puppy.

Poor little thing, so many people have no interest in helping, even more so it seems these days, I just don't get it.. As for the dog owner who suggested catching the pup and selling it??!
Over the years I have been late a fair few times because of stopping for a lost dog, knocking on doors, ringing around etc and if all else fails the dog comes home with me until something is worked out or the owner turns up! I remember being late one time and I said to my(thankfully understanding(but blunt!) boss) why is it always me who seems to come across the lost dogs and she said quite simply 'that you are the only one daft or soft enough to do something! Many others may see the dog but choose to ignore it..' But there are others out there(and on here)thankfully, going back to the rabbit story for example, so all is not lost, just hope that little pup has been found by now and is safe and sound somewhere...

I would guess the lady who suggested selling the dog was thinking more about punishing the owner who lets the dog get out more than the dog being a commodity.
Ive often said if I found a dog tied to a tree it would be mine.. No way would I try to trace anyone who wanted to treat their dog like that..

We have had a few lost dogs here over the years.. And one time I couldnt stop and help (hot day my three were in the car) I did provide water and a slip lead to aid the people trying to rescue /catch the dog.

of the dozens of lost / stray / LET LOOSE dogs i picked up whilst in Va Beach, the most-vivid one is probly the 30# Sibe bitch who'd been running for 3 solid weeks - she'd worn the pads of her paws as smooth & tender as a baby's bum, no traction papillae at all & she was hungry, thirsty, & itchy... Mozzie bites, flea bites, probly some ticks, i didn't look.
I caught her, took her home, crated my dog, brought her thru the living room, & parked her in the shade on the balcony.
Then i got her water & a snack, nothing big or rich, while she cooled out, & phoned the ACC.

The ACO who came to pick her up exclaimed, "oh, a Siberian!", when she saw her. And that's how they listed her, on her kennel-card. // When the owner came to pick her up, she was outraged - "She's a purebred Malamute, what's the matter with U? - Can't U tell the difference between a Siberian & a Malamute?!... Jeez!" She left, still talking about how ignorant the staff was, & how beautiful a specimen her 'Malamute' was.

Well, let's see - she weighs maybe 30#, I can pick her up in my arms easily, she has a relatively-short double coat with no ruff, she has wolf-gray markings & sable tipping with a light-cream underside... & blue eyes. Yup, she's a Sibe.

1) Rough collie
2) Dogue de Bordeaux?
3) GSD
4) Pass... wild guess, Shiba Inu? (Not sure I can even spell it.)
5) Wolf
6) Siberian/Inuit (are they the same?)
7) Malamute
8) Afghan hound
9) Kommondor

But how rude to expect people to know the difference between a Siberian and a malamute! I'm a bit shaky on which is which - when I was young they were all just huskies.

it's 2018 how hard would it be to look up the local dog warden etc. While you keep an eye on the puppy.

I did exactly this when I was followed for several miles by a very friendly red setter whose owners weren't the least bothered when I rang the number on his tag.

It took the Dog Warden over 24 hours to return my call

yes, the douce is a Dogue - his foreface isn't too bad, but he does have stenotic nares.
4 is a fooler - he's a solid white Akita Inu, so U were very close, & there's not much in the photo for scale.

Sibes [6] are from Siberia; the native ppl there have lived with them for centuries, & use them as draft-dogs & hunting help.
Inuit are Alaskan / Canadian ppls of the Arctic, so same northern latitude, but on a different continent.

All the Nordic breeds look similar - ring tail, prick ears, long-haired brush tail, double coat, muscular, athletic; size, some details of coat length or ears [hooded, in Akita & Shiba; upright in the other Nordics], but they're also all primitive breeds.
BEHAVIORALLY, they can be quite different - Karelian Bear-Dogs are the BCs of the Nordic group! Highly reactive, very physically active, need a job, barky... Akitas & Shibas are turfy & can be paranoid about stranger; stranger-suspicion is a given, stranger-directed aggression is quite possible. They don't suffer intrusive fools. Finnish Spitz are simply insane barkers - I'd never, ever want one. . In her 4-years of life, my Akita probly barked full-voice 10 or 12 times; she'd cough like a big cat when she was worried about a stranger, not bark.

the big clue to differ Sibe from 'Mute is size - Sibes are about half the size of 'Mutes; 'Mutes are k9 draft-horses, the equivalent of 18-wheeler tractor-trucks, while Sibes are speedy & compact couriers - the Pony Express mustangs.
The secondary clue is coat: 'Mutes are fluffier, with a deeper coat overall, a neck ruff [more pronounced in winter] & softer texture; their tails are especially plume-y, while a Sibe's tail is a fox-like round brush.
The definitive mark of a Sibe is blue eyes - no other Nordic breed is blue-eyed.
Sibes can have bicolor eyes [one blue, one brown or hazel - green-brown is possible, so is gold-brown], cracked eyes [the iris has different colors in different sections], or both eyes brown, or both eyes blue.

But no Akita, 'Mute, Shiba, Spitz, or Karelian will ever have blue eyes - only Sibes or Sibe-mixes.
Merle [the coat pattern] can also carry blue eyes with the dilution factor, & merles, too, can have bicolor, same color, cracked, or hazel eyes.

Heterochromia iridum - Wikipedia

Sectoral or segmental heterochromia is the medical term for a "cracked" eye - blue & brown, or any two colors, in the iris of one eye, in a section - the color is continuous, from the edge of the iris, clear to the pupil, in a wedge.
Shading can also occur; I have heterochromia myself, but my eyes are green at the outer edge, & brown around the pupil. That's CENTRAL heterochromia, as it's contiguous around the pupil.

Aren't they interesting? - about 1/4 of the L eye & 1/2 the R are brown.

Such segmental heterochromia also can be seen in horses.

Yeah. Left a few treats there so hopefully someone was able to catch him. I was going by to take him to the vets to check for a microchip.

I'm just assuming that someone lost him. I just can't believe someone would just dump such a young dog to defend itself..Maybe a child accidentally let him out, or he escaped from a garden. These things happen. Much better than the thought of someone dumping such a young dog and/or a pregnant dog

Wow. 24 hrs! I honestly meant to say contact a local rescue centre etc. I'm thinking the majority in this area don't even know we have a dog warden.

Hope he's OK too, but unfortunately have to be realistic. He ran off of the bridge and down to the train platform where a guy jumped the fence to reach him! Unfortunately he had other ideas and ran into the undergrowth, and and I think as most of us know this overgrowth can span the entire length of the train/tram track! We don't know how long he's been there for, maybe someone did dump a pregnant bitch, but I just hope he's OK.
