Can We Have A Greyhouund Section?

I think a greyhound section would be great- excellent idea. We seem to cope OK with the hunting issue, so I think we would probably cope with the racing issue.

Yep yep yep!! Bring on the greyhound section!!  :D

After months of pestering Nigel is sorting out a greyhound section for us greyhound owner whippety people so watch this space :- "

Also i think that a Greyhound Showing Sub Forum would be a good idea

We own a racing greyhound and a whippet. I see them both as pets, but toby ( the greyhound) like many others will have his career to suit his needs and then retire by our warm fire. I grew up with racing greyhounds and if they dont want to run then they wont. Like with any sport you get the people for and against. If you are into racing greyhounds then you should know its not for the money unless you invest thousands of pounds to get a top quality dog, cause low graders cant even cover their kennel bills. Ours is open class but we have not profited from him, by his running he pays for his kennel bill and thats how we like it. We get to watch him run, and take him on lovely long walks every week.

But as you say, it depends on the individuals personal experience to take their own views on racing greyhounds as a 'sport' as they call it. But we love toby like we love our whippet. He is in a very high standard kennel and well looked after, we are not into gambling, but have a small amount on him when he runs for the social side. Its when gambling comes into it that the sport is ruined, like coursing and rabbits lives etc... it all depends on your personal experiences of the matters.
