Hi folks!
New to the forum
Boxer owner for 2 1/2 years.
Red Male called Bruce

So now that i've introduce myself...

I have a question for any boxer owners on here.

Since we've had Bruce(from 8 weeks old he is now 2 1/2 years) there has been a regular occurance/pattern with his stool.
Initially and throughout the puppy stages vet and every1 kept telling us it was due to being a puppy and the Adrenaline causing it but lets see what you guys think.
So... we take him out in the morning, 1st poop seems like normal dog business as you could say. Easily picked up and of the consistency and colour you would expect to see then comes a second session which is normally messier... and sometimes a 3rd. And then the evening walk poos are almost always messy soft and sometimes completely unable to be picked up.
He is on James Wellbeloved dog dry food. We've tried a steady long course of the turkey and rice. And changed to the Fish and Rice about 6 months ago. Weve tried cutting out any treats altogether. Sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesnt do anything.
He sometimes gets a treat of scrambled eggs when im home from offshore as i have more time to do these kind of things for him than the missus.
And it seems to help sometimes aswell but hes so inconsistent its hard to tell what the hell does help or hinder.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as maybe we are being blind to somthing obvious.
Thanks M.L

Hello @Mark Lyon and welcome to the forum!

I’m not sure if this will make a difference but I know James wellbelolved has been taken over by another company. They’ve kept the name but they’ve changed the recipe and it’s higher in rice content, less protein.
I only found this out after some investigation (my boy was on JWB for years and always suited him)

Maybe the rice content doesn’t agree with him?

There's not a lot of meat and quite a lot of filler in JWB, and that could well be part of the problem. The website Allaboutdogfood gives its verdict here:James Wellbeloved Adult Nutritional Rating 67%

The ideal dog food would be grainfree, and you can use that website to get recommendations for your dog. That might improve matters enormously. However, my dog was the same as your boxer as a pup, whatever kibble I gave him. I switched him to raw and the problem was fixed overnight. So do consider giving raw a go.

Oh, and welcome!

Murphy had lots of problems with diarrhoea until we switched to 100%raw and excluded beef. Since then no runny bum ....simple
