Hi.

My Whippet bitch is doing well in training, but she still jumps up at strangers with other dogs. I don't know what to do!! Anyone able to help? Anyone?!

Blue used to do this, so I made sure all introductions were in a controlled manner, with Bluebell on the lead to start with, the initial excitement time became shorter and now she is fine of the lead meeting people and dogs alike, or keeping away if that's what I insist on...its just a case of persistance and doing the same thing everytime :thumbsup:

Im having this problem too with my lively 8 month old whip Louie. I dread it when he is let off to run on a field & people suddenly appear with their dogs. I keep thinking to myself 'please dont run over & jump up' - but most of the time he does. Its the reaction of the those people he has jumped up at leaving muddy prints on their clothes that worries me - not all laugh it off! :b

I know its really not easy when people appear from no where, but I have continually recalled Blue so she's always close and always scouring the horizon for other dogs appearing...you really need to be a million steps ahead of them...but its worth it when you ask them to stay or wait or leave and they do...Bluebell has just mastered this over the past few weeks, she's 15 months old now....I'm so proud lol

Well done for your persistance with Bluebell, sounds like its really paid off. Im going to do the same, & get practising my recall more often. We really do need to be a million steps ahead us whippet owners! But we are gifted with the best breed in the world, so its worth the hard work & red faces! hee hee :b :lol:
