It is totallty ridiculous that you should have to pay hundreds of pounds to have DNA testing on an animal incase you need to prove ownership at a later date,
So you can have

A receipt for a dog which you bought

Have it microchipped and or tatooed in your name

Have all the registration documents and pedigrees

Hundreds of pics from puppyhood to present day

Racing passports showing all angles of the dog

Insurance for the dog ect ect

And you need a DNA test to prove you are the owner  what is the world coming to

Cause if you get your dog dna tested it cost money...so they make more money from the dog owner.

It is so wrong, bring back the dog licence, then that would be proof only thing is they would probably charge £100 a dog

.

Sorry but i think you are wrong about the dog licence as how can a piece of paper prove that the dog is yours if that was true the the kennel club registration would be as good and if they do not accept that how can the dog licence be any better. In fact in the past it has proven that the dog licence does not work all it proves is that you have the rights to own a dog of sorts not what it is or what type even or even that you actually own one.

so at the risk of being totally obtuse......

if all the lengths we go to cannot prove the dog is ours then how come it IS suddenly our dog when the law wants to prosecute under the DDA or for other legal issues where proof of the dog is required like biting, causing an accident etc etc....... they cant BL**DY well have it in their favour both ways surely?

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The licence should be something like the racing passport with photos, marking etc done by a vet

Cause NOT all dogs are KC registered

That's what I think! Well they should be made to prove the dog belongs to whoever, and seeings as apparently NOTHING proves you own a certain dog what could they do????

As usual it works in the laws favour and us dog owners don't have a leg to stand on
