Hiya

It was an enjoyable nights racing tonight i think everyone enjoyed it! Hope a few more people come and support it, it would be a shame to lose it due to lack of support so come on you people if your dogs run the bends come along and have an enjoyable night out. I personally liked it better in two weight groups upto 25 and then upto 35 i think this worked well so the lighter dogs dont have big dogs running into them at end and the bigger dogs are not giving too many yards away - rather than ABC all in yards per pound (thats just my opinion). :p

Not sure if this is going to be the format every week or whether it will change each week depending on number of dogs racing etc., but tonight was a good night. :D :D

So, is this the reason all NWRF bends have moved to Askearn :) All you up North can prctise beforehand :)

And, I AM JOKING...............

Did anyone find out where the fed intend to start the racing from and over what distance at Askern?

Also will it be inside or outside hare?

We couldn't make it this week but enjoyed our previous visit as did the folk we took with us.

KAREN

can anyone tell me when the meets are on and how long from london does it take ps can blueboy have a head start as his getting on now lol no can you tell me is it weight groups and who do i contact for info :D

Actually, maybe I weren't joking so much previusly after reading Karen's comments. I spoke to a couple of club members earlier tonight and they raised the same questions as Karen, I couldn't answer, as I didn't know. Our bend schooling is with an OUTSIDE hare over 220+

What is it gonna be at Askern?

:D hiya debs here, found out today that fed are running from 280m to outside hare askern are employing 6 men to take traps on and off track, scratch will run out of greyhound traps and handicappers will run out of whippet traps. hope this is helpful to you all :D

:0 280Mts DONT U THINK THAT IS TO FAR TO RUN IT"S A BIG DISADVANTAGE TO A 16/18/20LB, HAVING TO GO ROUND THERE 2/3 OR 4 TIMES. 240 Mts IS FAR ENOUGH :)

ALL DOGS WILL BE RUNNING FROM GREYHOUND TRAPS,NOT FROM WHIPPET TRAPS AS THOUGHT.BY THE WAY JOHN I THINK THE DISTANCE IS FINE,LOL :D

280m? Are you sure? Suits my dog, but does seem a long way...Still good to see the big uns get a chance :)

Paul

YEAH THATS WHAT YVONNE SAID 280M, AND YES I THINK THIS DISTANCE IS FAIR COS STRAIGHTS ARE REALLY GEARED UP FOR LITTLE UNS, SO ITS ONLY FAIR THAT BIGGER UNS GET A CHANCE, ITS SWINGS AND ROUNDABOUTS,NOBODY CAN COMPLAIN REALLY IT CANT BE ALL ONE SIDED EH? ;)

:D I HAVE A 30LB BITCH 280MTS MIGHT BE O/K FOR HER,BUT I AM THINKING OF THE OTHER DOGS i.e.LIGHTWEIGHT NOT JUST MY OWN :D LOL :D ASKING A LITTLE 16-18-20-22-24LB DOG TO RUN 3 OR 4 TIMES IS ASKING TO MUTCH OF IT, ITS BAD ENOUGH DOING IT ON THE STRAIGHTS NEVER MIND THE BENDS IF A HEAVYWEIGHT DOG CAN"T BEAT A LIGHTWEIGHT OVER 250- 260MTS IT JUST IS"NT GOOD ENOUGH. ;) ??? ;)

i agrea with john, it is to far for little uns especialy if they run 2 or 3 times, its harder than people think for a 16 pounder to win opens over 150 or 160 . isnt it usually an 18 to 20 odd pounder that takes sup on straights , 280 is much to far, how many lightweights take sup on bends anyway not many ,usually 26 to 30 odd pounders win it but like neil says its swings and roundabouts, :D glad to be posting again now that topic has gone ,,,,,,,

so people dont like the distance at ascern then. so were do we run then cos tracks are getting less and less.IE=whitwood...kinsley...O and how far does a small coursing whippet run in a coursing event ?

it was only av couple of years ago that on the bends the supreme bitch mystical dancer was 21lb and runner up her sister 19lb Dancing wind. the year before that

Ones a mystery 21lb supreme and once again litter sister 20 lb one to watch, in the dogs Bossy boots 22lb, runner up kirby 4 times 20lb, and who can forget Lauras dream 20 lb who won with ease on the bends, so lets not get too carried away that only big dogs win on the bends, where as on the straights only little dogs win, the handicap system still favours the 18 to 24 lb group.

and who can forget Lauras dream 20 lb who won with ease on the bends, so lets not get too
I SEEM TO REMEMBER A 32 LB DOG CALLED INDIAN JOE THAT USED TO BEAT LAURAs DREAM , ANOTHER GOOD HEAVY DEFINATLY BLUE , STEWART, FREEWHEELER, SATNIN. GIVEN A BIT MORE TIME I CAN THINK OF MORE,IT USED TO BE 1&HALF YDS A LB UNTILL THEY CHANGED TO SUIT THE BIG DOG,LIKE I SAID BEFORE IF A HEAVYWEIGHT DOG CANT BEAT A LIGHTWEIGHT IT JUST IS"NT GOOD ENOUGH . ;)

too true john, :D not forgeting mad mick, fluke, trevors chaser, and a lott more ,im not really bothered like, im training grace up on bends now and if she was lucky enough to win a class id pull her out ,as 17 pounders have no chance against good ??? heavy dogs the ones jade mentions are ledgends. not many that weight could do it now . like john says if bigger dogs cant beat the little uns on bends they not good enough ??? dont see many greyhounds running 3 or 4 times over 280 in one day ;) ;)
