Could some-one please confirm the upper ped weight limit for racing please?

Our fattie (even though he has lost weight) is about 35 lb.

Thanks

Jo

It's 32lbs Joanna, .......but .......

A) Archie could slim down  ....and.....

B) We are going to do some over sized racing (at SC) for the cleared bigger dogs ;)

Oh dear :(

Looks like Archie will have to lose some non essental parts - like appendix, tail, ears, teeth! That should get him down to 33lb. hmmmmm now how do we get rid of the last 1lb?

Is he entire? :D

LOL......Alas no........that ounce has already been removed

We are struggling to see where the extra could be shaved off. I am doing mega walking with him, but that is turning fat to muscle which weighs more (w00t)

Right.......Note to self, starve dog for a week

good news about over sized dogs.....Star can join in too!

She is 17 kg (w00t) ....dont even know what this is in pounds......I thought she was about 13kg...until she was weighed at the vets..... :b

Is she too gigantic? :clown:

Wouldn't it be nice to se Star & Archie thundering down the track after the lure together  :huggles: ... Star just beating Archie to it.... :p

(w00t) :b

OMG - she isn't fat though ...honest..... :- "

Erm, unless there is an oversize, overweight category we won't be doign anythign other than trials forever......

Racing name = super size star.

You've both got the problem that I've had with Bean. He's too heavy but is okay for height. Which is a shame but such is life.

Lure coursing has no weight/height limits and then there's the hill sprints if they happen again.

Oxford used to allow over sized whippets to run with the other heavies (I believe) I don't know if they do now?

 Hello We are a couple in yorkshire looking for a blue bitch as a pet would you know anyone with one, pup or adult

Thanks Frank

Any-one who knows Archie, do you think it is possible for him to get down in weight?

As for Star......Archie says you fat cow :) , and just aswell he likes his bitches BIG

Jaw dropped

It's all muscleI tell you :*

Actually although we found the racing great fun, the idea was to get them used to the lureso we could go lure coursing, so it's a shame, but we'll have to make a bigger effort with that now. We'll still come along to cheer on the 'proper' whippets :D

Thats a really good idea Hannah. When you think that most people that are starting racing have show/coursing/pet bred dogs that are "largish" :) , I think it would be a really good idea if all clubs tried to cater for them like that. It would encourage the newcomers to the sport and once they get a taste for it, the next dogs they get are likely to be racing bred and eligible for a passport.

Don't give up on the racing Rae.......It would be nice to have a group of larger dogs :p like our lardies (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) I just can't imagine Archie being able to resist your curvy babe long enough to complete the cou  rse though

No one is likely to stop someone from trialling an oversized dog with other dogs. We've trialled Bean for 4 years. We pull out Woody from the racing so that Bean can race against another dog.

It does mean of course that Woody isn't often in the racing but it's our choice. We don't have to run Bean. But he enjoys it. The dogs don't know that they aren't in a race proper it just pisses off the owners from time to time. :b

Woody is a lot slower than Bean and trialling them together means that we can fix the handicap and get close finishes. That way both of them think that they've won.

So there is no reason why Star and Archie can't race together. :) Also Hannah has said that she doesn't have a problem with you racing.

Excellent - Star's eye will be OK - but she needs to be 'calm' for another week or so, so hopefully we'llbe able to make it on the 6th.

Hoorah for Hannah  and the oversized whippets group.

Soooooooo pleased :D :D :D

Big effort to get Star 'cleared' now

I really hope you will be able to come up next Sunday Rae. I don't mind holding a dog or two, and other folk don't seem to mind helping out. Archie is getting withdrawals from not seeing his love goddess too

I would also love to meet Holly whippet :))

We'll go all out for trap training and getting them cleared for the Spring

I'm glad Stars feeling better and it will be lovely to get her and Archie cleared so that they can "race proper like" with Bean :D ........See you at SC soon

I,m sure Archie must have lost a pound today, we have walked miles, and he has been doing lots of running like a mad thing!

Hannah, would this be the same as the other dogs competing in their own weight sections? So if they were a few of us, it would be proper racing for a rosette? If so that is great news for the larger members......it's not their fault, they have heavy bones!
