With our big passion for dogs we hope to make dogforum the No1 dog community online!

A big thank you to Jeff(bigpaws) for doing a great job so far.

We have huge plans for a whole new look, feel and community enhancement over the coming months.

We’re excited to grow and develop but understand that changes may be difficult to begin with so please feel free to contact us with suggestions, tips or anything that you think will improve dogforum.

We really value your opinions!

Keep your eyes peeled and your furry companions at the ready for this new and exciting chapter of DogForum.co.uk!

Please say "hello" below now.

You guys are about to find out how much us old fogies hate change  . This place is about dizzy with new stuff lately. You will find there are a few active posters who have tried to keep it going through all the changes. I first joined when the forum was in it's first incarnation back in 2002. Then it was an active community of sighthound owners and breeders.

Turned out the owners were reading all the personal messages which no one realised . When that came to light the forum virtuality went chest side up. Good luck in your endevours, there's certainly a lot of competition out there.

Hello. I have to be honest (and a bit naive maybe) but I didn't realise that forums are 'owned' as such. I don't have much to suggest, I like this forum because of the way it is - but hello anyway.

Hello. I, too. like the forum the way it is. It is a very friendly place. If we disagree with something someone else says then we do not attack that person or try to "out do" that person by posting forcefully.

There are people on here with a wealth of knowledge and they share it with no thanks from the "forum owners". Yes the recipients of the advice are grateful but it would be nice to see some sort of input on that front.

It would be nice to know the new owners' background in the dog world?

I know selling advertising is the way many forums are financed. This concerns me somewhat as it can seem as though by posting advice on here we are in some way sanctioning the products that are advertised.

Hello and thank you for replying to our announcement. We understand that change can be difficult but our only intentions are to help grow the forum and provide an exciting place for people to discuss different topics and help each other. All of the Dogforum community are really important to us so thank you for letting me know about the reading of personal messages. We certainly won't be reading private conversations.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reply. We to want to keep the forum a friendly place for healthy discussions and community support as it is now. We won't support any forceful posting!

So a bit about me and my partner Oliver. I have always had a passion for dogs and dreamed that one day I could do something that involved them and also find other people that loved them as much as me! We have a black Labrador called Dennis who is 9 years old and he is my baby! My partner Oliver loves dogs also but it will be me that manages the forum. People sharing their wealth of knowledge is such a big part of the forum and we value it so much. This is why I am here to make sure people are acknowledged and appreciated! Believe me I would have been lost without this kind of advice over the years.

Just had a thought! Could you persuade a retired vet to come on board? If not then a vet nurse who is up to date with all the latest treatments?

Amazing to be here and to see so many of you truly care about this community, we can't wait to take this to a whole new level.

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions.

Hello,

I too just hate change !!       , I love the friendliness ( with no "bitching" or "bullying" tactics )  of everyone here it will be sad if the change were to disrupt this friendly forum.

I agree with gypsysmum2 about having a vet on board, but maybe one with (conventional,  holistic and raw feeding understanding too.) who could be more open and understand all methods of treatments and remedies.       Did any of that make any sense ?

Hello!  No bothered about any changes as long as stuff continues to work properly ;)   Have hosted/run/administered many online forums over the years ad I know the workload that can be involved, so best wishes to all concerned.  I've not been here that long, but everyone has been friendly and helpful, long may it continue.

Thankyou all for your replies and comments. We love the friendly community and we do not want this to change - EVER! The only changes we plan to make will be for the benefit of everyone using dogforum. It's exciting!

Have taken your comments on board about introducing a vet or veterinary nurse to the forum. Please bare with us though at this new and busy time.

I'm not sure if this is something we can just change our settings for - but I get alerts that 'someone' has liked a post. I might be a bit narcissistic but I'd quite like to know who! Is that something the liker or the likee (?) can change?

Hi Joanne, We will look into this and see what can be done!

Anyone noticed any changes yet ?

Maybe I'm expecting things to happen too quickly !

OK just read the first post and it says "over the next few months".  Huh, stupid me!

We will give another update just before it happens :)

It's very difficult trying to read the light grey writing on the new listings. Please can it be made quiet a lot darker ???

Was beginning to think it was just my connection or something. Then thought maybe it would be completely different when the forum came back on line. Glad to see nothing’s changed!
