Hello,

I was hoping for some advice on a neigbours dog. Its a small breed, looks like a cockerpoo but shorter legs. Its being kept outside all day in a rabbit hutch with plastic sheeting over the mesh which I guess is an attempt to keep it warmer (its around 2-5 degrees at the moment) . Its barking all day and nobody checks on it between 08:30 and 15:30 ish. Now the barking is annoying but i'm more concerned about the dogs welfare. I know people will advise talking to the neighbours but I don't really want to get involved personally as I don't know them and I do report further down the line, I don't want the hassle.

Any advise appreciated as this seems cruel. Thanks

Agree get the authorities involved ASAP and if you send photos it helps..

Thanks, I agree but looking at the RSPCA site they advise that if a dog is given a kennel and water, there is not much they can do. I still think I will try though.

This is awful! I'd take time stamped/dated photos and videos of the dog barking as proof and then contact the RSPCA and/or local dog warden. I understand why you wouldn't want to talk to the neighbours as we've had similar problems in the past with a neighbour who was breeding dogs and they all had mange & were never let out. Keep it anonymous I would.

yes true, even
@Benjamin Richards

This is not a kennel though - this a rabbit hutch and the poor dog can’t even see out because of the sheets there.

Also you can say that you cannot see access to water, food or bedding.

Even though the dog is small, it cant exercise and does no have a separate area to use as a toilet. I think the plastic sheet actually makes the dog bark more as it cant see whats happening, just hears a noise and assumes its nearby. This just adds to the distress. Its weird as the family seem fine otherwise

That needs reporting ASAP (which can be done anonymously). That's not a healthy life for the dog and can cause so many mental problems as well as health.

Totally agree with previous comments. I would report and detail that the dog is clearly distressed based upon it barking for long periods of time.

Yes please keep us updated - this poor dog :(
