I once saw a dog who had been trained to wipe his feet. I'm not sure how effective the mats that are meant to absorb mud really are. But the only thing I could suggest apart from that is a shallow tray of soapy water by the door or remodelling your garden.
There is/was a paw washer on the market. Not sure how dogs take to it? The foot goes in and I think it agitates. Not sure I would not rather wipe the feet than wash out a washer. Don't think it dries them either
I, personally, have just given up A quick wipe has to do.
A friend nearby has installed an outdoor hot/cold outdoor shower for her six Labradoodles!
With tounge in cheek I would say swap dogs and get Whippets, mine hates getting wet / muddy and manages to go out and back in staying clean whatever the weather.
Lucky you biker John my whippets come in with very muddy feet! I have a pack of "muddy paws" wet wipes and a towel by the door so as soon as I get in each paw gets a clean with the wet wipes then dried and then we are happy!
