Over the last week our dog has started to urinate inside (once in the lounge, twice in the kitchen), he has been house trained since a puppy and has only ever had an accident if he's had an upset tummy - in these situations its always been right by the front door in his need to get out.

We are a month away from expecting our 2nd child so we feel it could be linked with behaviour (lots of new bits in the house, im home alot more now maternity leave has started) could such behaviour issues also be linked with his diet? He is on a basic kibble, if we changed to a more expensive/hypoallergenic brand do you think he would be happier? For a Sprocker he isnt majorly food orientated and sometimes will even leave his dinner. Vet check yesterday said he was fit, healthy and a good weight.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi, sorry not much advice, but didnt want to read and run, has he been doing this regurarly or,has he been checked over by vet for any infections etc.

Do u give ur dog milk or a wee cuppa? My last three dogs can't take milk in any way, just a guess

Could it be he just can't hold it and needs to be let out more frequent?

Try letting him out a few extra times a day to rule it out?

Would guess this is stress related as long as cystitis has been ruled out, possibly something you have brought into house for baby has a very strong odour (to dogs!!) and he has felt the need to try and mask this so anyone coming in knows it is his home - dogs' minds work in funny ways! Also, did he do it on the carpet or was it on a particular object or bag etc? My JRT will urinate inside if you leave a plastic bag on the floor for longer than a minute, he seems to have an irresistible urge to do it on plastic or polythene!!! Not good if the bag contains shopping he he!!
