Warning to all and a lesson learnt.

We took Brooke to the vet yesterday to have her ears treated for an infection. About an hour later I walked her on a local field which a lot of dog walkers use. I caught her eating vomit and in all fairness to her she stopped when I told her to. All seemed fine until about an hour later when she...

    Ear treatment.

I have not heard of Thornit so will Google it. We used cleanaural this afternoon and she has stopped shaking her head so hopefully a good night's sleep is awaiting her. Thanks for the reply Joanne.

    Toilet command

We say 'good toilet' when she is in the act. Hence she will generally toilet on request before jumping into the car.

I would be interested to hear people's views on Cleanaural please. Is there a better product? Thanks in anticipation.

    Nail clipping.

Before Christmas we visited a dog groomer who included nail clipping. The dog was putty in her hands. I did my homework and bought the correct clippers for our Lab. When I clip her nails she puts up a struggle. I admit that feel apprehensive about clipping her nails. Do you think that my...

    Never say never.

Took the dog on the beach yesterday. Always a fun walk. No chance of her rolling in anything. Wrong! From a distance I can see her rolling. Surely she is having fun in the sand. On my arrival I find her rolling on a dead fish! She is certainly not to be confused with predictability.

Eating grass. (The dog not me)!

Thanks for the replies. The purpose of the diet is for weight loss. The food is Royal Can in.

Eating grass. (The dog not me)!

Just before lockdown, our dog was put on a diet - which we have stuck to fairly rigidly and she looks healthy for it. The kibble prescribed is designed to 'fool' her into thinking that she has had her fill. I have noticed during walks that she eats a fair amount of grass. I am eagerly looking...

    Back legs giving up

My thoughts are with you Josie. I am not looking forward to seeing our lab when she is at your dogs stage as surely she will. I hope that he doesn't hurt too much.

    New / puzzling behaviour.

Since we have had Brooke - ( Lab rescue dog), she has gradually changed her habits. She is a very happy and lovely family dog. Her latest is that when she is trying to get your attention she sometimes gives off a quiet growl/moan. There is no aggression with it but I wonder if anybody on the...

    Dogs and squirrels.

Thank you Joanne. She is a rescue. We have had her for 16 months. She is 9 so we have not seen her upbringing.

    Dogs and squirrels.

Our dog surprised us on a walk through woodland this evening. She made a dash for the base of a tree where she attacked a squirrel. It came as quite a shock to us. She is a lab with a hint of Ridgeback in her. It was upsetting to us. I suppose that dogs do this. Is it normal/acceptable? As...

    Vet costs.

I recognize that x-rays and the likes would pump up the bill but as far as I am aware, he only had 6 stitches. Out of interest, I will try to get a more accurate account when I see him again. I do know that one or two people have raised their eyebrows at the vet in question with regards to high...

    Vet costs.

I must admit, I don't know. If I see him I will ask.

    Vet costs.

Bumped into a friend this evening (not closer than 2 metres!). He told me that his dog had been to the vet due to a gash in lower leg. For 6 stitches he was charged £500 (on top of his Pet plan account). Opinions on the fee please.
