On a walk yesterday Whisper got quite close to another dog (that she has met before) face to face. I thought we'd got too close as she froze and stared, so I was expecting a fit of barking and lunging.
But we got a delightful suprise when she did a lovely play bow, the other dog bowed back and...
Ha! Yes maybe it's the wildlife,
Yes I suppose it could be wildlife, she eats V-dog traditional flakes.
Maybe it's the sausage roll she ate yesterday.
She and other dogs in her walkies group have all been super energetic on frosty mornings but this breaks the rule as there wasn't a hint of...
Despite having quiet woods walks over the weekend, she is in one of her crazy moods, she has jumped around the garden hunting invisible creatures, pulled like a shire horse on the beginning of her morning walk and hasn't settled down as she usually does after a walk. She looks like she's had 3...
Do you think he's panting because he is stressed in the car ?
If so maybe throw the odd treat to him to associate car rides with yummyness and take his mind off what's worrying him.
I suppose he could also have a touch of motion sickness, that can cause panting and increased salivating.
Did you get to speak to the owner of the dog that bit him ?
Chances are it might bite another dog, might need to be muzzled.
I had a greyhound that got bitten by an ex police dog, it's a very stressful experience for human and dog.
Hope you are both ok.
Whisper has a very high prey drive, we think she was bred and trained for hare coursing or lamping back in Ireland.
But she is reactive to dogs because she was bitten on the face by another dog before we rehomed her.
The RSPCA should know better.
Ok thank you, trying to learn more about doggy body language. It's very interesting.
It can be confusing when a dog is playing and growling at the same time.
Very true.
When we rescued Whisper she was very happy to go out on a walk but was extremely reactive to dogs and some men.
Eventually we sought the sevices of a 1:1 trainer.
Unfortunately whilst "training" her not to react to dogs by tugging on her lead, shaking a bottle of stones and even...
Prong collar = torture device.
Just like the electric collar and the figure of 8 slip lead.
Why do humans invent such cruel ways of doing what you can do kindly and gently.
Sorry, rant over.
