@Rhythmpig i was told by people on this forum that i would fail if i tried to adopt because i work an 8 hr job and cant drive home to check every four hrs. if shelters have requirements liek that no wonder they're full. i dont have a single coworker that drives home to check on their (bought)...
bought because my dad was terrified id end up with a "broken" dog if i rescued. so i bought.... and ended up with a VERY broken dog. I love bax but i 100% beleive if id gotten a rescue id have ended up with less work and a better dog.
speaking of diapers make sure your just getting the belly band ones if its just urinary incontinence. they didn't work very well for bax because of his shape but he tolerated them MUCH better than the full diaper.
I once had someone on this forum tell me that a "1-2 mile walk should be a 1-2 hour walk" and i had to express confusion because in my world those are the same thigns. bax takes FOREVER.
I needed a Psych therapy dog cause my meds werent working. it was to expensive to get a proper one so i decided to get a puppy and train my own. worst decision of my life. Bax came from a glorified puppy mill and was terrified of EVERYTHING including me. he HATED people. hid, would snap at you...
Oh absolutly @Free spirit i get where your coming from. And i respect where you went with your dog. I had a similar experience with my dog and i got jumped by people who thought i wasnt positive enough to even AFTER everything id tried. So nothing but love and respect coming from me <3
i actually came out the opposite. force was used often in our house (prong collars, choke collars and alpha rolls) and verbal put downs of us kids could be just as harsh(LOTS of yelling). when i got bax i SWORE id be different from my dad so i used (mostly) positive stuff with him. funny what an...
*nodnod* i feel like people latch onto other ideas if someone is charismatic or good looking and they don't stop or think. Here in the states Ceasar Milan is huge and i respect alot of his ideas (namely encouraging lots of exercises as a panacea against most behavior problems) but people latch...
I've been on the internet to long to be bothered by the sanctified lot. just ignore them, it's easier to do then with proper trolls. @Free spirit
As far as whistles go i feel like they're just a reset. I know recalls can get corrupted if a dog thinks it can just run as it pleases. Bax went...
I have a coworker with a boxer nad heh talks about him constantly! they seem like such quirky high energy pups! best of luck to you! i'm sure he'll be delightful!
I'm glad you found what works for you! there was a time when i was in your camp thinking id have to give bax up he was so bad. its not a good feeling, feeling like you've failed. My thoughts when i decided to keep him no matter what was "if he's this bad they'll just euthanize him if i send him...
Sorry @leashedForLife i didn't mean to spawn another wall of text post. Lord knows those must take forever for you to write o_O. i know you weren't writing @me before but i wanted to post all the same to counter balance your glowing review of front clips. They didn't work for my dog. I did...
