Lovely!!
No kids to walk here :( But it only makes dog walks so much more precious!
We are lucky, I guess - we don't mind driving a little bit, and have more than a few favorite places within an easy drive.
We can climb up into the mountains:
We can hike around lakes:
We can walk along the...
We are back to hiking in the woods, after winter hiatus during cold weather.
Enough snow (and ice) on the trails to keep the recreational dog-walking folks on the paved and cleared roadways, which means Miles is running off leash, free to find and chase geese in a pond or follow the tracks...
J is just over 11 y.o., right?
I don't know for sure, but I suspect that at some point worrying and feeling down about their health just becomes a part of life.
He looks great though on those videos!
Careful what you wish for!:) Mine discovered the big wide world, concluded that it's very safe and exists primarily for entertainment purposes, and is essentially one huge playground with lots of playmates there of all kinds, ready to chase and be chased at any time of day and night! :D There...
I would defer to the vet. I know 2 families whose dogs had seizures, and both are fine and happy now, after finding the right medication. There are different kinds of neurological problems, of course, not all seizures are the same. All I am saying is that some of them are quite treatable.
Yes, this is unfortunately very familiar to me. Heartbreaking time for you. In time, things will start to get better. Meanwhile, tell us more about your girl, and about the 6 years you shared.

There is some fun to be had in the snow... there are health and social benefits in having to take the monster out no matter what the weather is... but we are all ready for the Spring here!!
I am sure others will come up with better solutions.... but my 2 cents are:
- the more he does this, the more of a habit this becomes
- 1st thing is to eliminate the trigger. No evening TV for a while
- then slowly reintroduce TV, if you still have cravings for it
Not sure what fits, but Ridgebacks surely do not, so that’s one breed to cross off.
if there is a place where people walk their dogs (a park, a beach?) I would consider going there when there is lots of dog people, and talking with the owners - that’s another way of getting real life insights....
Interesting thought.
Where we are, I am not aware of dog theft being a real problem, especially taking a dog from a person in broad daylight.
That said, I have used (and still do occasionally) use GoPro camera. For the purpose of recording dog-dog and dog-human interactions, they are very...
Well done thinking this through.
But keep in mind - this is still just a probability game, not a guarantee. There are very different individuals within the same breed.
Our 1st Ridgeback was what one would call a “strong and silent” type, rarely making sounds. The 2nd Ridgeback is very vocal...
