This is a dicussion ive had quite often, with breeders of various breeds.Ive been astounded,by some of the misconceptions some folk have on this subject. So was just wondering how many folk have the same thoughts in their heads, that i have,as regards the 1st worming,of little puplets.Ever since i can remember.Ive been worming the very day they turn 2 weeks, and always do mum,a day after. Some folk never worm. But most recon about 4 weeks,to be the norm.

i worm every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age, i worm mum before breeding and again when pups are weaned , lovely pups you have there xx

I agree 2 weeks, and every 2 weeks after. That way you catch the larval transfer from the mum to pups, before those worms are mature enough to reproduce. I have always wormed the mum with Panacur from day 40 onwards, until 2 days post whelping, which helps to stop the transfer of lavae - its just a small amount daily, and I have always had healthy pups, and not lost any at birth - nor ever seen any worms when worming the pups.

the same as June, before they are born! thro mum, Panacur right up to whelping and then every 2 weeks never see a worm

I worm and innoculate the bitch, before mating, and worm again,at 5/6 weeks. As this is reconed to be the main time, when the lerva is passed on to the pups, through the placenta.I always worm her again, the day after she pups, and then each time i worm the pups, from 2 weeks on.I do the bitch the dat after,as she is still cleaning, and therefore taking in anything, that might come out of the pups.Maybe a bit OTP.But thats just the way ive always done it.As the kids are out socialising them, soon as they've had their 1st worming.Well, from 2 day's after it,to be exact. As we can't be carefull enough, where kids are concerned.

thats how we use panacur 10% , excellent stuff !!! £55 a litre too from canine chemist ;) we also use drontal and milbemax as the pups get older , the only way to prevent and treat gardia infection too is with panacur 10% ;) we tend to do adult dogs with panacur twice yearly with drontal twice yearly , alternate

if I am going to mate the bitch, I allways worm and and flea bath within the first couple of days of showing, I then frontline on the morning of the first mating, I worm the pups from 2wks old and then every 2wks with panacur and when the pups go I send them with half a generic drontal to be administered at 10wks
