Does anyone know if these berries are harmful to whippets. I can not stop my lot from eating them from the garden. They never get any great quantity of them, as I have to race to the plant and chase them away, but it has now become a silly game as they grab mouthfuls of these berries.

It depends on what plant the berries are from is the quick answer, I would imagine that if they've been doing it for a while then they will probably be ok, but you will need to identify the plant and check whether the berries are toxic, there's plenty of internet sites that will tell you whether they are toxic or not. My lurcher is the same with blackberries and will even pick them off the bush herself, but I had the same worry as you when the blackberries ended last year and she started to eat other berries on our walks, fortunately I identified them quickly as Hawthorn and sloes which are not toxic. You must identify these quickly and take action to rectify any dangers, personally I don't like any shrubs in my garden that produce berries because a lot such as yew can be very harmful to both our granchildren and our pets.
