grrrr don't set me off  i think its one of the worst things you could do is introduce the hairless gene into other breeding ,the whippet is thin enough skinned without having no fur either  and then have the audacity to advertise them as working dogs  wasn't the original purpose of a crested was to be a hot water bottle  the hairy and the hairless carry the hairless gene
I wondered if they were something to do with the Mexican Hairless????? What ever they are, crossing them with a whippets is a horrible idea. I suppose it is another designer dog that will sell for big money.grrrr don't set me off  i think its one of the worst things you could do is introduce the hairless gene into other breeding ,the whippet is thin enough skinned without having no fur either  and then have the audacity to advertise them as working dogs  wasn't the original purpose of a crested was to be a hot water bottle  the hairy and the hairless carry the hairless gene
Chinese Crested dogs are originally from Africa where they were called "African Hairless Terriers." The ancient tribe of the Aztecs liked these dogs very much - and apparently they were used by them to warm their beds. They also did eat them. Chinese trading ships stopped along Africa on their routes and it was there that they picked up these dogs because they were excellent in controlling pests aboard their ships. They renamed these dogs to "Chinese Crested" and the name stuck since then.
