whippet racing in Victoria Australia

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie, just joined yesterday but I'm really enjoying this site. I wanted to tell you about the racing site of the club I belong to. If you want to have a look it's www.wrcv.asn.au (I hope) why hasn't it come up blue so when you click on it it takes you there? Oh well if you ever find it there's a really cute pic of my puppy Feather running flat out. go to news & click on archives meeting #2. Then go & make a cup of tea cause it takes an age to download. There's a pic of Feather & Lolly together, the blue & the blue parti & then bottom right there's Feather running. My girls are all pedigree but they don't have to be to race. They just have to look like a whippet & weigh less than 15 kgs (about 33lbs) I think. They are graded acording to their times & males & females all race against each other. My little Kibah (Pocket Rocket) is only 10.2kgs & regularly beats big 15kg males. My girls are Pocket Rocket, Little Savage, (Penny) & Feather will be called The Blue Flyer but she hasn't started offically racing. Linda & the fab furs

I get the impression there's prize money in the UK for whippet racing. Well no such luck over here, it's all amateur. I think they reckon we'll get dirty & cheat if money was involved. I just go cause the dogs love it. I drive 180k's round trip for about 2 mins total running time. Great fun though as you all know. Linda

We don't have prize money for pedigree racing here either. And yes. we are just as mad, travelling for miles all over the place just for a couple of 10 second runs sometimes. A lot of fun though
