I have a beautiful almost a year old whippet )laguana bloodlines) ..not that bothers me, because she is sooooooooooo lovely... but verry naughty, but she is little..I want another puppy... I love greyhounds.. I think they are beautiful... should i just stick to whippets for now.. or would a greyhound make a good companion? (a bitch)... im not sure if Im gunna get flamed for this... but Silver is my first dog, which is why I need advice.. please, if you would be so kind :)

if I was you I would go for another whippet, they play so much better with their own breed, and you do hear the occasional horror story of whippets breaking their necks running into a bigger breed...

Wait till yours is well settled with good recall etc before you get your next, maybe wait till she is 18 months...

Good Luck whatever you decide :)

I would agree as whippets really do love their own breed.  It may be sensible to wait until Silver is a little older and has settled down a bit more.

I don't have experience of owning a greyhound but others on K9 should be able to advise you about having a whippet and greyhound together. I volunteer at a local dog rescue and have walked a number of greyhounds. They certainly are lovely dogs.

Good luck with your decision. :luck:

I started with Greyhounds and had both for a good few years , never had any problem of them running into each other . Now 2 whippets running into each other can happen (I have 9 but only walk /run 5 at a time , all off together, most of them are clever enough to jump over or side step each other , but accidents do happen, Touch wood ,ive had nothing major apart from the odd tumble :luck:

Are you thinking about an ex racer ? Id love to have another , my friend breeds the odd litter of racers and when she has a little fawn bitch its coming here , no problem. mind you ive beeen waiting about 15 years now , all her line are black

I've had whippets and whippets together, and whippets and greyhounds .... and tbh there was no real difference.

Greyhounds are bigger (obviously) and a bit more laid back than their whippety cousins ...... but other than that they are much of a muchness :D

I have never had a problem with whippets running into greys (though a friend's staffy did once run smack into one of the whippets and pretty much floored him)

Both great breeds and should have no trouble with either although the costs of keeping a greyhound will be alot more twice as much food.

I have had both,i think you should have whatever you fall in love with,go and look at both, your heart will decide.

Good luck.
